By applying the three stages of the theory – victimization of the ego, demonization of the enemy, and reaffirmation of the ego – to both albums, I hope to uncover the ways that both West and Hill contribute to identity creation. I don’t even have any cool interns to man the phone banks I also don’t have, so don’t expect any of that business, either. PROGRESS TO GOAL: 70% What I do have is the yearly renewal on my hosting plan coming up, with nothing budgeted to pay for it. I recently started a new job, which required a small move, which required fighting a ridiculous custody battle that I can’t even describe, which depleted any savings we had, etc… Things are fine now, financially and in every other way. We’re back on our feet and things are turning around; I can pay our bills and our lawyer (because that particular nightmare isn’t over yet), I can put food on the table and a nice new roof over our heads. I could probably even pay to renew my hosting plan, if I really wanted to. But that’s money that could be better spent on Trey, so that’s where I want to spend it. So, that being said, what am I going to do with Coquetting Tarradiddles? Well, that’s entirely up to you. To renew my server hosting at its current level (which is pretty necessary, unless you want the site crashing every time I get a traffic spike, or whenever some jellyheaded script kiddie tries to hack my Gibson), it’ll cost me $250 clams.

Custodero Approved by the Committee on the Degree of Doctor of Education Date May 16, 2018 Submitted in partial fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Music and Music Education in Teachers College, Columbia University 2018 ABSTRACT INVISIBLE TERRAINS: EXPERIENCES OF NOMADIC MUSIC TEACHING ARTISTS Katharine Charlotte Kresek This study explores the complexities of professional performing freelance musicians who teach part-time through arts organizations in multiple educative settings, a condition I refer to as nomadic. Nomadicism is characterized by an inherent sense of itinerancy. Through semi-structured interviews and observations with three participants, I constructed narratives of individual experience through a method of narrative inquiry, which enabled much-needed nuance and complexity, as prior research in the field of teaching artistry has focused mainly on surveys of working conditions with mostly informal anecdotes from the field. The music teaching artists in this study negotiated highly complex careers to extraordinary degrees in which they experienced conflicts between their preparation as highly accomplished performers and their preparation for their work as teachers. While each participant expressed their motivations for pursuing careers as teaching artists in radically different ways, they shared similar patterns of integration and reciprocity between their performing and teaching identities. Participants communicated unique, varied, and idiosyncratic narratives of perceived successes and challenges in preparing, adapting, and negotiating their multiple roles across multiple spaces. While their work had them interacting with students, teachers, administration, family, and musical colleagues, the teaching artists still experienced significant feelings of isolation.

He was Japanese American Museum. It was a strange place to see punk reading an issue of the zine Nervy Girl. He told me that I’d inspired him to AA bands. Their sets were incredibly short. It was an amazing show, pick up a copy of the zine. Since I’d never hear of it, I asked him what he anyway. After the show, Todd spotted The Brat’s guitarist walking around meant. He told me that all my talk of a media monopoly and the need for with copies of the only record they’ve released. I looked at Todd to make independent voices to balance out the mainstream corporate voices got to sure I wasn’t hallucinating. Because I have to admit, I’ve dreamed of him. He was in Hollywood and saw the zine and never would’ve picked it seeing this record in record stores so many times without actually seeing it up if not for me. He felt embarrassed purchasing it, he said, but now he that I’d begun to believe that the record only existed in dreams (and was glad he did. “Have you heard about all these women getting killed in Jimmy Alvarado’s record collection).
