The Portuguese, Dutch, French and the English came to India to promote trade and commerce. The English who established the East-India Co. in 1600, gradually consolidated their hold in different parts of India. They had very capable men like Sir. Thomas Roe, Colonel Close, General Smith, Elphinstone, Grant Duff etc . The English shrewdly exploited the disunity among the Indian rulers. They were very diplomatic in their approach. Due to their far sighted policies, the English were able to expand and consolidate their rule in Maharashtra. 2 The Company’s government had trapped most of the Maratha rulers in Subsidiary Alliances and fought three important wars with Marathas over a period of 43 years (1775 -1818). 1.2 POLITICAL CONDITIONS BEFORE THE BRITISH CONQUEST : The Company’s Directors sent Lord Wellesley as the Governor- General of the Company’s territories in India, in 1798.

GVK MIAL Introduces E-Boarding Pass at T2 for Domestic Passengers
Vol V Issue I January 2019 GVK MIAL introduces e-boarding pass at T2 for domestic passengers Taking advantage of the latest technology, GVK MIAL’s CSMIA has become the first airport in the country to have eliminated boarding pass stamping for all domestic airlines operating out of Terminal 2. This is part of the ‘Digi Yatra’ proposed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. Passengers travelling within the country from Terminal 2 can now authenticate their boarding pass at the pre- embarkation security checkpoint by scanning the boarding pass barcode or QR code on the mobile phones at the E-gates Reader, using the Live Passenger Dataset. This authentication of boarding pass will eliminate the responsibility of CISF personnel to check and stamp the boarding pass. Thus, it will save their time and improve the overall throughput of the security check procedure. This initiative by GVK CSMIA is a step towards adopting new technology and digitizing the travel experience of passengers, making it hassle-free. SELF STUDY REPORT Criterion 7 Institutional Values and Best Practices Metric 7.1.18 Great leaders not only motivate people from their era but these leaders also inspire generations to come. This is to about all the iconic leaders India had for years together. The national festivals such as independence and republic day are celebrated in the campus with pride and joy. Leaders like late Dr. A P J Kalam, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Dr. B R Ambedkar are fondly remembered in the form of reading hour, Ekata Divas and Samvidhan Divas. The days celebrated are as follows, National festival of Independence Day and Republic day Celebration of memories of great leaders like Dr.A.P.J. Kalam, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. B.R.Ambedkar etc. Late Dr.Kalam’s memories are organized through programs such as Reading Hour Sardar Patel is remembered with Ekta divas. Outcome(s): VIIT students’ celebrated Guru Purnima on 31st July 2015 in VIIT campus. MCA and MBA students had organized program for all VIIT’s staff at Class room no 5. All staffs were felicitated by offering rose by the students. Program began with Student’s speech on Guru Purnima with utterly devotion to teachers. 7.1.18 Institution organizes national festivals and birth / death anniversaries of the great Indian personalities Response: The College celebrates various National Festivals and Birth Anniversaries of the great Indian personalities. a) Independence Day: The College celebrates Independence Day every year on 15th August along with staff members, students, parents, board of trustees. The day is celebrated to remember the contribution of freedom fighters in freedom struggle and to show gratitude towards them. Further, it encourages national pride & spirit and inspires everybody to contribute in their own way towards national development. b) Republic Day: The College celebrates Republic Day every year on 26th January to honour the occasion on which the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950. c) Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a great Maratha warrior and administrator, is indeed a source of inspiration to all Indians.
