"Wild Side" is a Novel where the Hero gets to be Best Friend with Lou Reed reminding me of the Song "Walk on the Wild Side" of the latter. This Famous Song was from his Second Solo Album (Transformer -1972). It was produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson, and released as a Double A-side with "Perfect Day". The Song received Wide Radio Coverage, despite its touching on Taboo Topics such as Transgender People, Drugs, Male Prostitution, and Oral Sex. Lou Reed (March 2, 1942 ““ October 27, 2013) was an American Musician, Singer and Songwriter. He was the Lead Guitarist, Singer and Principal Songwriter for the Rock Band the "Velvet Underground" and also had a Solo Career that spanned Five Decades. The "Velvet Underground" achieved Little Commercial Success during their Existence, but are now regarded as One of the Most Influential Bands in the History of Underground and Alternative Rock Music. Michael Imperioli is turning his Old Relationship with Lou Reed into a Novel, him being a Huge Fan as he claimed before “Lou is my Hero, basically, out of Anybody.“ and Lou Reed who was apparently a Big Sopranos Fan... The Story starts with a 16-Year-Old Boy named Matthew who´s just lost his Father. After his Mother uproots them to move from Queens to a Fancy Apartment Building in Manhattan, Matthew discovers he´s now Neighbors with Lou Reed and his Transgender Lover named Rachel.... MICHAEL IMPERIOLI: My dad busts his ass driving long shifts and commuting. So he’s not home much. Growing up, we watch Dog Day Afternoon together so many times I lose count. It’s him at his happiest. One day, when I was about 13, after dad’s been driving his bus in the Bronx, he bursts in the front door, out-of-his-mind excited. “I might be in a movie! Or at least my bus might be!” Turns out, he sees a movie getting shot on his route, it’s a movie called Fort Apache, The Bronx starring Paul Newman. And he drives by the actual camera. Maybe they can see his bus, too. That night, there’s this lightness in him, this energy. Not long after, he tries out for his first community theater production. And he gets in. It’s a courtroom drama, and he plays the court clerk. There are a lot of nights when he gets home from a 12-hour shift, changes out of his uniform, and heads right back out to rehearsal. I am very proud watching him. Amazed at his courage. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t stand in my way on that breezy and sunny September day. ROHAN GUNATILLAKE: Martin Scorcese’s Goodfellas is one of my all-time favorite films. And if I’m being honest I was probably a bit too young when I first watched it, but hey whatcha gonna do? So I’m pretty excited that today’s story is from Michael Imperioli who in his 20s played the ill-fated Spider.

  • CABARET MAXIME Lands US Distribution Rights at Giant Pictures, Sets Premiere Date for February 2020
CABARET MAXIME lands US Distribution Rights at Giant Pictures, sets premiere date for February 2020 New York, NY – December, XX, 2019 – Giant Pictures has acquired the US rights for Bruno de Almeida's new movie, Cabaret Maxime, starring Michael Imperioli. It will open theatrically at the Metrograph in NYC on February 21st, ahead of a national, multi-platform rollout on March 3rd. Michael Imperioli plays Bennie Gazza, the owner of Cabaret Maxime, a nightclub in an old, red-light district where a group of colorful characters perform musical numbers, as well as burlesque and striptease acts. Bennie runs the cabaret like a tight family, dealing with each artist’s unique personality while taking care of his performer wife, Stella, who suffers from manic depression. When the once-decadent neighborhood starts to become gentrified, Bennie struggles to keep his club afloat. As the residents are being bought up and pushed out, Benny is violently threatened when he refuses to sell. The pressure builds to a dramatic climax as Benny is forced to take a stand against the powers that be. Michael Imperioli is best known for his Emmy-winning role as Christopher Moltisanti on the HBO television series, The Sopranos. In 1990, he made his film debut as Spider in Martin Scorsese's, Goodfellas. He has since appeared in more than 90 feature films and television series. He has worked with such notable directors and actors as Martin Scorsese, Spike Lee, Abel Ferrara, Peter Jackson, Walter Hill, Mary Harron, Cindy Sherman, Ben Gazzara, Robert De Niro, Rachel Weisz, Christopher Walken, Joe Pesci, Edie Falco, James Gandolfini, and many others.

MoMA | press | Releases | 2001 | Discussion on The Sopranos Page 1 of 3 For Immediate Release February 2001 THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART HOSTS DISCUSSION ON THE SOPRANOS Discussion with David Chase and media writer Ken Auletta February 12, 2001 The Sopranos February 3-13, 2001 The Roy and Niuta Titus Theatre 1 The Museum of Modern Art presents a discussion of the HBO series The Sopranos with the series writer/director David Chase and noted media writer and author Ken Auletta, February 12, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. at the Roy and Niuta Titus Theatre 1. Recording the domestic dramas and business anxieties of family living the bourgeois life in a pleasant New Jersey suburb, The Sopranos is a saga of middle-class life in America at the turn of the century. Chronicled in twenty-six hour-long episodes, the first two seasons from the series will be shown in two four-day sequences at The Museum of Modern Art, from February 3-13 at the Roy and Niuta Titus Theatre 1. "The Sopranos is a cynical yet deeply felt look at this particular family man," remarks Laurence Kardish, Senior Curator, Department of Film and Video, who organized the program. "David Chase and his team have created a series distinguished by its bone-dry humor and understated, quirky, and stinging perspective - not usually seen on television." Renowned for his savvy profiles of power players in the media, Ken Auletta will join David Chase for a discussion of The Sopranos at The Museum on February 12. The Department of Film and Video gratefully acknowledges HBO for making the series available for public viewing.

  • April | May | June | 2018
april | may | june | 2018 s a n t a b a r b a r a m u s e u m o f a r t from the director Dear Members, In the wake of one of the worst tragedies in recent decades for the residents of our area, the strength and good- heartedness of the local population has shone through. Out of adversity came charity—proof being that an SBMA Trustee came forward to sponsor free admission to the Museum for the entire month of February, for which we are very grateful. We hope that this, along with free musical programming during February, and thought-provoking exhibitions and programming, helped to provide solace, tranquility of mind, healing, and a source of inspiration for Santa Barbara. As the community recovers and rebuilds in many areas, the Museum continues to make great progress with its major renovation project. In February, demolition began in Ludington Court (original post office building) to allow for the construction of an improved Visitor Services area and a stairway leading to the upper level galleries. In addition, the race is on to complete the two new gallery spaces—one dedicated to contemporary art and the other to photography and new media. The Imagine More Capital Campaign continues to progress as well. With a major recent gift from the Dana & Albert R. Broccoli Charitable Foundation and Jane and Michael G. Wilson, total fundraising has reached $35.6 million, more than two-thirds of the $50 million goal. More about this extraordinary contribution can be found on page 13.

  • BADA BING! the SOPRANOS and QUIXOTIC REALISM August Braddock1
BADA BING! THE SOPRANOS AND QUIXOTIC REALISM August Braddock1 ABSTRACT Often considered the television series that brought about the second golden age of television, The Sopranos can be viewed as a quixotic narrative. This is especially true when looking at the sixth and final season of the series, with particular focus on the final sequence of the series finale, titled “Made in America.” Not only is the entire series quixotic through its acknowledgement of the impact of real-life East coast Italian- American mafia families and previous cinematic portrayals of mob life, the most noteworthy being The Godfather trilogy and Goodfellas, but also through its Byronic hero, Anthony “Tony” Soprano. Furthermore, the series finale of The Sopranos invites audience participation through the act of leaving the narrative open – no member of the audience knows exactly what happened to their beloved Byronic hero and are left to their own devices to craft an individual conclusion. Through the acts of calling back to the nonfictional and cinematic renditions of mobster life and culture, including a Byronic hero as the series‟ protagonist, and through the act of inviting audience participation to conclude the much beloved series, The Sopranos proves itself to be a modern quixotic mobster crime drama. KEYWORDS: The Sopranos; Quixotic; DeCavelcante; Byronic Hero. BADA BING! THE SOPRANOS E REALISMO QUIXÓTICO RESUMO Considerada muitas vezes a série de televisão responsável pela segunda era dourada da televisão, The Sopranos pode ser lida como uma narrativa quixotesca. Isso é especialmente verdade no que toca à última temporada da série, em especial a sequência final do final da série, intitulada “Made in America”.
