INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION (SEP 16,2020) KEY FINDINGS: . A strong domestic semiconductor manufacturing presence is critical to America’s economic competitiveness, national security, and supply chain resilience . The share of global semiconductor manufacturing located in the U.S. has plummeted in recent decades, mostly because competing governments offer large incentives and the U.S. does not . Robust federal incentives for semiconductor manufacturing are needed to strengthen national security, attract substantial chip manufacturing to the U.S., and create tens of thousands of jobs 8 Initiatives within the microelectronics cluster "Silicon Saxony„ to strenghens EU Semicon Ind - Example 1 IMPORTANT PROJECT OF COMMON EUROPEAN INTEREST – MICROELECTRONICS (IPCEI) . IPCEI 1 on microelectronics was a big success, e.g. • Establishment of Bosch Fab in Dresden • R&D & Invest opportunities for existing fabs & foundries . Need for IPCEI 2 • Focus on Safety, Security, Sustainability and Sovereignty Source: ipcei-me.eu 9 Initiatives within the microelectronics cluster "Silicon Saxony„ to strenghens EU RTO landscape - Example 2 TESTING AND EXPERIMENTATION FACILITIES (TEF) WITHIN DIGITAL EUROPE PROGRAM .
