ABBA MANIA Return to the Florida Theatre on February 25, 2021
ABBA MANIA Return to the Florida Theatre on February 25, 2021 Jacksonville, Fla. (May 26, 2020) – The Florida Theatre is pleased to announce the return of the world’s number one touring ABBA tribute concert, ABBA MANIA, on Thursday, February 25, 2021. ABBA MANIA returns to perform the group’s biggest hits "Dancing Queen," "Waterloo," "Mamma Mia," "The Winner Takes it All," "Super Trouper,” Fernando,” ‘‘Take A Chance On Me" and many more in this special live concert. ABBA MANIA formed in 1999 and the show has been selling out theatres and concert halls internationally ever since. This show has toured the world in its quest to bring the music of the Swedish supergroup to their millions of fans, old and new. ABBA’s timeless songs were written to be enjoyed live and ABBA MANIA gives you exactly that. Two hours of uplifting, dance inducing and sometimes heart-breaking songs, fully live with fantastic staging, lighting and effects. ABBA MANIA is the perfect concert for lifelong, die-hard ABBA fans as well as the new generation of fans who never had the opportunity to see ABBA live. Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Anni-Frid, collectively known as ABBA, dominated the charts for nearly ten years and enjoyed nine UK number 1 hits. At their height they became Sweden’s highest export earners, amazingly, outselling Volvo cars. ABBA Gold was continuously in the album Charts throughout the nineties and is one of the biggest selling albums ever. “Beware of imitations…this is the real musical tribute!” - Polly Graham, Sunday Mirror The historic, nonprofit Florida Theatre is sponsored by Community First Credit Union. -

Dear Customer, With autumn being the time of year when record labels traditionally bring out the big guns, we’ve struggled to fit everything in this month! If information seems a little lacking in places, please don’t hesitate to give us a call and we will do our best to help you. Picking out our favourites was certainly a challenge. Our ‘Disc of the Month’ (below) is a real delight - sublime choral singing from The King’s Consort on a disc of works by eminent British composers, available at just £8.50 if you spend over £50. Other highlights include Liszt from Daniil Trifonov (Gramophone’s Artist of the Year 2016); Rossini arias from superb countertenor, Franco Fagioli; two new Mozart discs in the form of Piano Concertos from Jean-Efflam Bavouzet (Chandos) and Violin Sonatas from Alina Ibragimova (Hyperion); a beautiful performance of Mendelssohn’s String Quartets 5 & 6 from the Escher Quartet (BIS); and we mustn’t forget the tenor of the moment, Jonas Kaufmann, who brings us a wonderful recital of Italian Songs (Sony). Pianists seem to be ruling the boxset re-issues this month, with collections of recordings from Pollini (DG), Perahia (Sony), Richter (Warner) and Gilels (Melodiya). Harnoncourt (Sony), Munch (Sony) and Kremer (DG) also feature in popular original-jacket-style anthologies. Congratulations go to pianist Igor Levit this month, winner of this year’s Gramophone Recording of the Year. -

CGT Abba Book AW
ABBA Original Sweden issue: Polar Music POLS 262, released April 21, 1975. First UK release: Epic EPC 80835, June 7, 1975 EW WOULD DISPUTE THE ARGUMENT THAT THIS ALBUM WAS THE F first wherein Abba became truly recognisable as Abba. There were hints of what was to come in the highlights on Ring Ring and Waterloo, but this was the first album to feature the soon-to-be-famous multi-layered Abba sound throughout. With one or two exceptions, it was also clear that the group had identified their strengths and their weaknesses, and reached some kind of understanding of what they really wanted to accomplish with their music. Although the finished album oozed confidence, Abba’s status in the international music world was actually a bit shaky when sessions started on August 22, 1974 (the studios used for the album were Glen Studio and Metronome Studio) and were even shakier when sessions finally concluded in March 1975. At the very least, this was the situation in the UK, which they regarded as the home of pop music and where, accordingly, they felt it was most important for them to succeed. The problem was an image tainted through having won the Eurovision Song Contest, which was widely derided for lacking integrity. “Groups like ours that had been tagged as ‘Eurovision’ were not meant to have more than one hit,”recalled Björn. The remixed ‘Ring Ring’ single, released as a follow-up to ‘Waterloo’, reached no higher than 32 on the UK chart. Then, in November 1974 when Abba released the first single from the current album sessions,‘So Long’,it tanked completely, failing to register on the chart. -
Music of ABBAMANIA Grows on Pitmedden Garden Audience
NATIONAL TRUST FOR SCOTLAND MEDIA RELEASE XX July, 2017 Music of ABBAMANIA Grows on Pitmedden Garden Audience With over 40,000 different types of plants in bloom this summer, Pitmedden Garden is more than used to hosting colourful spectacles. But nothing could prepare the historic country house for the vivid display of lycra and sequins worn by ABBAMANIA – the world’s longest-running ABBA tribute concert. As classic hits like Waterloo and Dancing Queen ring out from the stage and the scent of honeysuckle and jasmine wafts through the air, the captivating show on Saturday, July 29 will be a true assault on the senses. The elegant renaissance garden in Aberdeenshire, which is now managed by the National Trust for Scotland, will be one of the more unusual venues that ABBAMANIA has graced. However, it’s a stage that the band members have been looking forward to all summer – and one which they believe the original line-up of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngsta would have loved. Scots singer Sharon Fehlberg – who has the alter ego of Anni-Frid – says, “We have performed there once before and it is an absolutely fantastic venue. We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather, so fingers crossed the sun will shine for us again. “People still love the music of ABBA after all these years because they created timeless pop songs. You just don’t get music like that now. “The film and stage show Mamma Mia has introduced a new generation to their music, but we have always seen people of different ages in our audience, from five-year-olds to grandparents. -
