Detour Lake Contingency Power Project Detour Gold Corporation

As part of the planning process for the Detour Lake Contingency Power Project, a Terms of Reference has been submitted to the Ministry of the Environment for review as required under the Environmental Assessment Act. If approved, the Terms of Reference will serve as a framework for the preparation and review of the Environmental Assessment for the proposed undertaking.

The Detour Contingency Power Project is a proposal to install an additional 10 MW of diesel-fired generation to provide power to support the construction of the Detour Lake Project as a contingency, should the energizing of the proposed transmission line to the site be delayed. The Detour Lake Project is a proposed open pit gold mine with related processing facilities and infrastructure, to be developed northeast of Cochrane, at the location of a previously operating mine. The early construction phase of the Detour Lake Project will be supported by diesel-fired generation of between 1 MW and 5 MW, subject to a separate environmental approval process.
