The word Himalayas means ‘abode of snow’.The Greater Himalayas or Himadri is the highest range of the Himalayas. It is in the northernmost part of the Himalayas. The average height of Himadri is 6000m.. The average height of himachal is 3000m. Mount Everest (8848m),which is a part of the Himalayas in Nepal, is the highest peak in the world. Some important peaks in the Himalayas are Kanchenjunga (8580m), Dhaulagiri (8177m), K2 (8611m) and Nanda Devi (7818m).Terrace farming is very common in Shiwalik ranges. The another name of K2 is Mount Godwin Austen.
