QUALITY SPECIMEN TREES 2021 CATALOGUE 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION QUALITY SPECIMEN TREES Dear Valued Customer, April 2021 Welcome to our 2021 Leafland Tree Catalogue! It is 20 years this month since we started Leafland and what an interesting journey the past two decades have been. We started with no staff and now Leafland employs over 30 people. I was telling the staff the other day that when we started we had no internet, computers, or mobile phones. Even fax machines were new! I thought we were high-tech when we purchased a Polaroid camera which printed out the tree pictures straight away. We would then run up to the closest postbox and mail it FastPost so our customers would have them by lunch the next day! Now, we send videos of trees live to customers! We trust that you find Leafland's 2021 Tree Catalogue helpful, inspirational, and informative. Please keep it close at hand for easy future browsing. This is the first year that we haven't put prices in but will provide a priced stock list on our website for wholesale customers only. Get in touch with us to find out how this will work. The catalogue is also available online from our website so that you can direct your clients to the website to view pictures. The Leafland website has been updated with a search feature so you can sort our range of trees by category, growth rate, mature height, what each tree will tolerate, and much more. You can find this tree finder at leafland.co.nz/trees. In the past twenty years, we can say constant change has been the most constant medium. Changes to the way we do business now to cloud based invoicing, inventory systems, and also to the types of trees that we grow. 2020 was an incredible year with lockdowns, new procedures, and then an unprecedented demand across the whole nursery trade for trees and shrubs. And 2021 does not look like it's stopping soon! It seems as though New Zealand is spending its travel money on its own back yard. At Leafland, we aim to continue our goal of growing NZ's best quality specimen trees, so we trust that we can continue suppling you with top-grade trees. Feel free to pop in and have a look around if you are in our area. We have approximately 35 acres of nursery across two sites and stock numbers are overall good at the moment, but I will say we have never seen so many forward orders as in our system currently. Feel free to contact us with any tree questions you have, and we will do our best to answer them. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal customers for your on-going custom and support in the past years and we look forward to supplying you with quality specimen trees in the near future. All the best for 2021, Ben Currie & all the Team at Leafland Tree Nursery Front cover image: Prunus yedoensis 'Awanui' at Massey University, Palmerston North. Leafland started in April 2001 after we purchased the tree side of Sunshine Environmentals. We have over 30 full time staff. Our mission is to provide quality specimen trees throughout New Zealand with outstanding service and professional advice. We seek to be the best grower of large grade trees in New Zealand. We specialise in exotic, edible, and native trees and sell over 700 different tree species, varieties, and cultivars. Our property spans over 35 acres and two different locations (1 Roberts Line and 710 Napier Road), accommodating over 100,000 individual trees. Leafland trees are unique in that they are grown on our property in a typically windy Palmerston North. We are also subject to cold winters and this environment helps make a hardier plant, compared to one grown in a sheltered environment. Typical Leafland customers include councils, landscape architects, property developers, tree surgeons, golf courses, and schools.
