PROVIDING HELP INSPIRING HOPE FINDING HOME 2016 Annual Report HORIZON HOUSE TOGETHER WE CAN IMPACT HOMELESSNESS Letter of thanks Dear Supporters, We want to extend our appreciation to all of you for making the services we provide at Horizon House possible. Your support enables us to continue to build on our reputation and values of serving our clients (neighbors) with dignity and respect as they work towards self-sufficiency. As a result of valuable input from trusted community partners, funders, donors, board members, staff, neighbors and volunteers, we have a new strategic plan that captures our vision and goals for the next three years. Horizon House will serve as Central Indiana’s champion and trusted leader for supporting neighbors to achieve long-term self-sufficiency. - Provide an effective continuum of services that begins with basic needs but ultimately focuses on helping neighbors secure and sustain income and permanent housing. - Establish a healthy and supportive organizational culture that is intentional about promoting trust and stability for the organization and its personnel. - Realign the Horizon House brand to reflect the organization’s full spectrum of services from meeting basic needs to promoting self-sufficiency. - Establish a sustainable financial model with predictable and diverse revenue streams. Focusing on these priorities will allow Horizon House to meet the short and long term goals of its neighbors in Central Indiana over the next three years. Some of our key accomplishments in 2016 include: - Lease up completed at Penn Place for 41 individuals. Penn Place is Indianapolis’ first true Housing First Model. Horizon House provided the case management services to the residents. - Strengthened partnerships with local businesses, such as Angie’s List who designed and painted a mural on our building; Eli Lilly Day of Service where staff members painted offices and built shelving units in our storage areas and The Creek for facility funding and increase neighbor support, to name a few. - Developed several new successful fundraising events—1st Annual Golf Outing and Trivia Nights, helping diversify our revenue streams. - Full board and staff participation in the creation of the strategic plan and action plan over the next three years. Thank you for your continued support throughout this important planning process. As a direct result, we will continue to have a daily impact on our neighbors as they take steps toward a more stable life.
