… You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time…” Abraham Lincoln ( 1809 – 1865 ) FACTS AND FICTION- ARCHIVAL FOOTAGE HISTORICAL EVENTS AND TELEVISION AND FILM PRODUCTIONS Media Archeology Movies and television productions are released and transmitted each year dealing with historical events or public personalities like politicians , military leaders, revolutionaries, and people with a record of special achievemments. The aim of my presentation is to make you aware of different possibilities in reusing archival footage in movies. It is my intention to inform you about the importance of the audiovisual archives and how to reuse transmitted programmes or real shots of life in new productions. It is not my intention to evaluate real shots in historical movies and to report about facts and fiction in those films. The subject is dealt with in the book called: PAST IMPERFECT. History According to the Movies. 1995, and my own paper on the same subject: HISTORY AND MOVIES: An evaluation of the information of historical events, of international known personalities and of famous sites and buildings describes in movies. THE TRANSITION TO SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (SMS) IN AVIATION: IS CANADA DEREGULATING FLIGHT SAFETY? RENE´ DAVID-COOPER* ABSTRACT In 2013, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) adopted Annex 19 to the Chicago Convention to implement Safety Management Systems (SMS) for airlines around the world. While most ICAO Member States worldwide are still in the early stages of introducing SMS, Canada became the first and only ICAO country in 2008 to fully implement SMS for all Canadian-registered airlines. This article will highlight the documented shortcomings of SMS in Canada during the implementation of the first ever SMS framework in civil aviation. While air carriers struggled to un- derstand and introduce SMS into their operations, this article will illustrate how Transport Canada (TC) did not have the knowledge or the necessary resources to properly guide airline operators during this transition, how SMS was improperly tai- lored for smaller air carriers, and how the Canadian govern- ment canceled safety inspections around the country, leaving many air carriers partially unregulated. -

It is hoped that an extension will be added to the Great War Memorial in Ennis that will include the names of the Clare War Dead from WW2 / The Emergency. At the moment we know that 86 died from Clare as well as in Clare. I would like to thank Keir McNamara, and his late father Peadar McNamara for all their research on WW1 and WW2.
