The health and safety management system complies with the OHSA 18001 standards and is certified by a third party certification. The internal test laboratory complies with UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025 with tests certified by an independent certification body.

Sustainability and Environment Care The ECOSMART MIX series development has been driven by environmental sustainability. The materials used for its production allow a low environmental impact during the product life cycle.

General Description

The ECOSMART MIX series is composed of air insulated switchgear that offers a loss of service continuity type “LSC2A-PM”, developed in accordance with the following standards:

ECOSMART MIX 1

Medium Voltage Air Insulated Switchgear for Secondary Distribution Flexibility Modular units are available with different combinations of functionality in order to satisfy the most common electrical configurations of typical substation and distribution circuits. The series brings to the market a versatile switchgear ready to cover a variety of installation requirements and market segments.

Each switchboard is composed of a busbar compartment and cable compartment, both air insulated and separated by a 3 position gas insulated disconnector. The modularity and compact dimensions of the product allow for a reduced footprint and ease of installation where space is limited.

A low voltage control box can be included to contain the low voltage circuits as well as protection and measuring devices.

ECOSMART MIX 3 4 Medium Voltage Air Insulated Switchgear for Secondary Distribution Integrated System with vacuum circuit breaker & gas insulated disconnector

ECOSMART VG is suitable for line and transformer protection applications. It’s composed of a vacuum circuit breaker combined with a three position disconnector, embedded in the same welded stainless steel tank filled with insulated gas. All the operations are performed from the front of the equipment. The vacuum circuit breaker, located upstream the disconnector, is equipped with an operating mechanism, spring stored energy type, with opening and closing operations independent from the operator. The operating mechanism spring can be charged manually, through the lever embedded on the apparatus front, or by the gear motor supplied upon request. Opening and closing operations are carried out with the available push buttons or by means of the opening and closing coils, actuated from remote. The disconnector, connected downstream of the circuit breaker, is a three position type (closed-sectionalised- earthed) and is provided with an operating mechanism exceeding dead center type, having opening and closing speed independent from the operator. The three upper insulators of the apparatus connect the circuit breaker’s contacts to the main busbars system by means of bolts, while the lower insulators allow the connection between the disconnector and the medium voltage cables. The insulators are made of quartz-reinforced epoxy resin.

Busbars Compartment

The bus bar compartment contains the three phase busbar system to allow the extension with other units on both sides while remaining separated from the other compartments. The busbars are made of copper size 30x8mm, for rated currents up to 630A (upon request the busbars system can be sized for rated current up to 800A or 1250A). The busbars are connected to the switch-disconnectors upper contacts. Switch Disconnector The LSC2A-PM designation includes the 3 position switch-disconnector series ECOSMART PB. It is an gas insulated switch disconnector with closed-sectionalized-earth positions. The switch disconnector is housed inside a welded stainless steel tank filled with gas having pressure of 0,4 bar at 20°C. The metallic tank ensures the full earthing. The line and the earth contacts are driven by a 3 position operating mechanisms with two different operating lever slots which are mechanically interlocked.

ECOSMART MIX 5 Medium Voltage Air Insulated Switchgear for Secondary Distribution Cable Compartment The cable compartment contains the power cable connection terminals to the lower insulators of the switch- disconnector. This compartment is suitable to host the medium voltage fuses, the air insulated earth switch, the medium voltage vacuum circuit breaker as well as the current and voltage transformers. Low Voltage Auxiliary Compartment All the units of the ECOSMART MIX series can be equipped with a low voltage auxiliary compartment, located above the operating mechanism, to contain the low voltage circuits, terminal blocks, measuring instruments or protection relays. Based on the required auxiliary circuit components, a variety of low voltage box dimensions are available. Earthing All the panels are equipped with a main earth busbar having 100mm2 of section (different dimensions are available upon request), which can be connected to the adjacent units ensuring earth continuity to the whole switchgear. All the apparatuses inside the panels, as well as all removable plates and doors, are connected to the earth busbar by means of copper braids or flexible cords. The parts of the metal structure are riveted together guaranteeing the earth continuity across each component. Interlocks ECOSMART MIX switchgear is complete with all the necessary interlocks to fulfill a high level of reliability during service and maintenance conditions. Safety interlocks are in accordance with the standards and they can be increased with special applications available upon request (e.g. keys locks, padlock arrangement, electrical interlocks etc.). The presence of the interlocks ensures the correct operation sequences are followed by the operators.

Environment and Operation Conditions The ECOSMART MIX switchgear can operate in normal conditions as described inside the standard IEC 62271-1. G&W Electric must be consulted for operating and installation conditions which deviate from the standard.

Internal Arc Classification

The ECOSMART MIX series has been internal arc tested in accordance with the standard IEC 62271-200 appendix A, up to 20kA x 1 sec. The tests have been carried out on busbars compartment, switch-disconnector tank and cable compartment.

The ECOSMART MIX series fulfills the following internal arc protection classifications (IAC):

1. Internal Arc Protection IAC AF Classification - The ECOSMART MIX switchgear should be positioned at 130mm from the wall. Closing plates are assembled on the sides to create an exhausting over pressure duct on the back of the switchgear. Overpressure outlet flaps are positioned on the back side of the panels to facilitate the overpressure venting

2. Internal Arc Protection IAC AFLR Classification - The ECOSMART MIX switchgear can be positioned in the middle of the installation room. Rear chimney with cooling filters is assembled on the back of the switchgear to absorb the overpressure venting coming from the panels.
