ITINERARY • Day 1 − Elephant rides to Bayon Temple and Phnom Bakheng In the Morning: AA/− South Gate to Bayon Temple: Starting out around 8:00 a.m., this elephant ride takes you through the famous South Gate of Bayon along the tree lined road to the fantastic Bayon Temple. BB/− Around Bayon: Available from around 9:00 a.m. or as soon as the elephants arrive at Bayon from the South Gate. See the many faces of Bayon from a different perspective as the elephant takes you around this stunning Temple. CC/− Bayon to Preah Pithu: Available as soon as there are elephants at Bayon. This ride takes you past the Terrace of the Elephants and the Leper King to the little−known, quiet temple of Preah Pithu. DD/− Bayon to South Gate: Available from around 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Arrive at the temples later to avoid the crowds and take an elephant from the Bayon Temple back to the South Gate. In the Afternoon: EE/− Up Phnom Bakheng: Available from 4:00 p.m. Let the elephant take you up this steep mountain to view the spectacular sunsets over forest, the towers of Angkor Wat and the Western Baray. FF/− Down Phnom Bakheng: Available as soon as there are elephants at the summit. If you have climbed up to the summit and are growing weary, take the easy option down and ride an elephant, marveling at the beautiful sunset and sights along the way. DESTINATION INFORMATION • Siem Reap Siem Reap City is the capital of Siem Reap Province, Cambodia. Siem Reap has colonial and Chinese−style architecture in the Old French Quarter, and around the Old Market. In town, there are Apsara dance performances, craft shops, silk farms, rice−paddy countryside, fishing villages and a bird sanctuary near the Tonle Sap Lake. Siem Reap today, being a popular tourist destination, has a large number of hotels and restaurants.     SIMULATION OF RAINFED RICE YIELDS UNDER CLIMATE CHANGE IN PUOK DISTRICT, SIEM REAP PROVINCE, CAMBODIA Thoeung Puthearum 2nd Oct 2018 Background • In Cambodia, the majority of flooded areas are also experiencing drought in the dry season due to the lack of sufficient irrigation systems. • Puok district is located on lowland, Western part of West Baray and Tonle Sab lake in Siem Reap province of Cambodia. • Total area of the district is 1,279 square kilometer, divided into 16 communes with population of 126,110 forming 22,936 households within which 22,471 (97.97%) involves in agricultural farming. • Rice is cultivated in a vast area of 30,980 ha of the district. Dinner at local restaurant and overnight stay at hotel. Day 2: Full day in Siem Reap (B, L, D) After breakfast, Visit to Banteay Samre temple built by Suryavarman II and contains well-preserved relief depicting scenes of Vishnu and Krishna legends. Then visit Banteay Srei temple, built under Jayavarman V, as the jewel in the crown of classical Khmer arts. Its rose-coloured sandstone walls are decorated with carvings and bas-reliefs, which are among the most accomplished Angkor has to offer. Lunch at local restaurant. PM: Visit the remarkable temples: Ta Keo – the mountain temple with an imposing 5 tier pyramid that was one of the 1st Angkorian monuments built entirely in sandstone.

This pagoda was once Khmer Rouge prison and killing site. 1 Edited by Elaine McKinnon 1 Introduction In collaboration with the Ministry and Provincial Department of Culture and Fine Arts, the Documentation Center of Cambodia’s Museum of Memory has installed and premiered three exhibitions entitled “The Forced Transfer: the Second Evacuation of People during the Khmer Rouge Regime.” The exhibitions were established in Tep Povong Pagoda in Siem Reap Province, as well as in the Svay Rieng and Kratie Provincial Departments of Culture and Fine Arts on December 5, 11 and 18, respectively. About 1,150 people from various walks of life attended the events, including civil parties, Cham Muslims and other villagers living in communities near the provinces, high school and university students and teachers, provincial pedagogy students, provincial officials and cultural department officials. During the opening ceremonies, participants had a chance to learn about the content of exhibition, which displays photos and information related to the forced transfers which took place in their provincial towns.
