This is the first time that the Combined Commanders’ Conference has been held on board an aircraft carrier. The Prime Minister inspected a Tri-services Guard of Honour this morning at INS Garuda at Kochi, before arriving on board INS Vikramaditya, where he was received by the three Service Chiefs. After the Conference, the Prime Minister witnessed an operational Prime Minister departing to INS Vikramaditya after reviewing the tri-services guard of honour demonstration of India’s naval and maritime air capabilities. Minister Kammenos held meetings with Defence Minister Mr Manohar Parrikar and MoS (External Affairs) on December 18, 2015. Both sides held discussions on various issues in the field of defence and security and agreed to deepen cooperation between defence establishments of both sides including in areas of Naval cooperation, ship visit, training and other professional exchanges. The two sides also agreed to explore cooperation in the area of Defence Technology, Research and Development. Both sides also shared their perspectives on regional security issues. The Gentleman Cadets displayed tremendous enthusiasm, vigour and zeal, marching to military tunes with pride and élan. Congratulating the newly commissioned officers on successful completion of their training at IMA, the COAS emphasized the need to achieve professional excellence in all sphere of Military Training and advised Gentleman Cadets to “Never Stop Learning”. The Passing Out Parade was witnessed by Military and Civil Dignitaries and the family members, relatives and friends of the newly commissioned officers. Gen Dalbir Singh COAS taking report from the Parade Commander at IMA Dehradun - Col Rohan Anand January 1-15, 2016 Sainik Samachar 9 235TH ANNIVERSARY AND REUNION Madras Sappers War Heroes Remembered n the occasion of the O235th Anniversary, Reunion and the Biennial Regimental Commander’s Conference (BRCC) of Madras Sappers, a wreath laying ceremony was held at the War Memorial of the Madras Engineer Group and Centre to pay homage to the War Heroes, who have sacrificed their lives for the sake of our nation. Lt Gen RM Mittal, Colonel Commandant of Madras Sappers, Brigadier Devaya, Commandant MEG & Centre, Senior Subedar Major, Senior NCO, Senior Sapper and a Senior Recruit paid homage to the martyrs by laying wreaths at the War Memorial. As the bugles sounded the last, a two minute silence was observed. This was followed by glittering ceremonial parade commanded by Colonel Santosh Reuben was reviewed by Lieutenant General Sanjiv Talwar, Engineer-in-Chief of the Indian Army and was witnessed by a spell-bound crowd of more than two thousand service personnel and their families. Marching to the tunes of Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja, Vetri Vetri, Haa Toroi the proud Thambis paraded the presidential colours and reinforced the popular belief that the Madras Engineer Group is synonymous with pride & professionalism. He also released a postal first day cover on this occasion.
