  • Turnbull Hockey Pool For
Turnbull Hockey Pool for Each year, Turnbull students participate in several fundraising initiatives, which we promote as a way to develop a sense of community, leadership and social responsibility within the students. Last year's grade 7 and 8 students put forth a great deal of effort campaigning friends and family members to join Turnbull's annual NHL hockey pool, raising a total of $1750 for a charity of their choice (the United Way). This year's group has decided to run the hockey pool for the benefit of Help Lesotho, an international development organization working in the AIDS-ravaged country of Lesotho in southern Africa. From www.helplesotho.org "Help Lesotho’s programs foster hope and motivation in those who are most in need: orphans, vulnerable children, at-risk youth and grandmothers. Our work targets root causes and community priorities, including literacy, youth leadership training, school twinning, child sponsorship and gender programming. Help Lesotho is an effective, sustainable organization that is working at the grass-roots level to support the next generation of leaders in Lesotho." Your participation in this year's NHL hockey pool is very much appreciated. We believe it will provide students and their friends and families an opportunity to have fun together while giving back to their community by raising awareness and funds for a great cause. Prizes: > Grand Prize awarded to contestant whose team accumulates the most points over the regular NHL season = 10" Samsung Galaxy Tablet > Monthly Prizes awarded to the contestants whose teams accumulate the most points over each designated period (see website) = Two Movie Passes How it Works: > Everyone in the community is welcome to join in on the fun.

  • Postgame Notes & Quotes Los Angeles Kings 7, Colorado
Postgame Notes & Quotes Los Angeles Kings 7, Colorado Avalanche 1 Thursday, March 22, 2018 Anze Kopitar registered four goals for the first time in his career, matching the Kings record for most goals in a game last reached by Luc Robitaille on Nov. 25, 1993 at Quebec. Kopitar recorded his fourth career hat trick and first since Feb. 12, 2016 at New York Rangers. Nathan MacKinnon extended his point streak to a career-long 14 games, the longest active streak in the NHL and third-longest this season behind Taylor Hall (19) and Patrik Laine (15). It’s the longest point streak by an Avalanche player since Paul Stastny’s 20-game run in 2006-07. Mikko Rantanen extended his point streak to eight games, matching his career-long streak set earlier this year (Dec. 12-29). He also became the fourth Finnish player to register 80 points in a season (Jari Kurri, Teemu Selanne, Olli Jokinen) and the fifth Finnish-born player to reach the mark (Tomas Sandstrom was born in Finland but represented Sweden in international competition). MacKinnon (9g, 12a) and Rantanten (7g, 14a) each have 21 points this month, tied for the league lead in scoring in March. Nikita Zadorov recorded a career high 15 hits, an Avalanche record and the most by any NHL player in a single game since 2005-06. The Avalanche was 1-for-2 on the penalty kill, just the ninth time Colorado has surrendered a power-play goal at home in 2017-18. The Avs are 107-for-116 (92.2%) on the penalty kill on home ice, the top-ranked PK unit in the league.

  • Dobber's 2010-11 Fantasy Guide
DOBBER’S 2010-11 FANTASY GUIDE DOBBERHOCKEY.COM – HOME OF THE TOP 300 FANTASY PLAYERS I think we’re at the point in the fantasy hockey universe where DobberHockey.com is either known in a fantasy league, or the GM’s are sleeping. Besides my column in The Hockey News’ Ultimate Pool Guide, and my contributions to this year’s Score Forecaster (fifth year doing each), I put an ad in McKeen’s. That covers the big three hockey pool magazines and you should have at least one of them as part of your draft prep. The other thing you need, of course, is this Guide right here. It is not only updated throughout the summer, but I also make sure that the features/tidbits found in here are unique. I know what’s in the print mags and I have always tried to set this Guide apart from them. Once again, this is an automatic download – just pick it up in your downloads section. Look for one or two updates in August, then one or two updates between September 1st and 14th. After that, when training camp is in full swing, I will be updating every two or three days right into October. Make sure you download the latest prior to heading into your draft (and don’t ask me on one day if I’ll be updating the next day – I get so many of those that I am unable to answer them all, just download as late as you can). Any updates beyond this original release will be in bold blue.

  • Career Retrospective: Roberto Luongo
CAREER RETROSPECTIVE: ROBERTO LUONGO Goaltender Roberto Luongo announced his retirement Wednesday, ending his 19-season NHL career with the second-most regular-season games played (1,044) among goaltenders and the third-most regular-season wins (489) in NHL history. He also retires among the top 10 in regular season saves (2nd; 28,409), shutouts (9th; 77) and save percentage (t-9th; .919). * Born in Quebec - just like the two goaltenders ahead of him on the all-time wins list - Luongo compiled a 489-392-124 record in 1,044 career regular-season games (2.52 GAA, .919 SV%, 77 SO) with the Florida Panthers, Vancouver Canucks and New York Islanders. He added a 34-35 mark in 70 career playoff games (2.49 GAA, .918 SV%, 5 SO) with the Canucks and Panthers. * Luongo retires as the franchise leader in wins for both the Canucks (252) and Panthers (230) - the only goaltender in NHL history to hold the wins record for multiple clubs (min. 100 wins for each). * Luongo also holds the franchise record in shutouts for the Panthers (38) and Canucks (38), making him one of three goaltenders in NHL history to lead multiple franchises in that category. Marc-Andre Fleury is the shutouts leader for the Pittsburgh Penguins (44) and Vegas Golden Knights (12), while Roy Worters set club records while playing with the now-defunct New York Americans (45) and Pittsburgh Pirates (22). ^Fleury and Worters also lead those franchises in wins, but do not meet the 100 wins threshold noted above * Among goaltenders to make their NHL debut since 1955-56, only one netminder has more career regular-season saves than Luongo (28,409): all-time wins leader Martin Brodeur (28,928).

Mats Zuccarello – New York Rangers………………………………………………....7 III. CONCLUSION………………...……………………………………………………………..8 I. INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW This brief will examine the performance record of the New York Rangers’ Derick Brassard, in conformity with section 12.9 of the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement.1 The value that Mr. Brassard brings to the club is marred by his inconsistent and erratic point production, as well as his mediocre contribution to the Rangers’ latest Stanley Cup playoff drive. As such, the New York Rangers respectfully submit that Mr. Brassard is entitled to $4.5 million in annual compensation – below the $5.0 million midpoint figure.2 A. Inconsistent Offensive Production Mr. Brassard’s offensive skill set has oft been an asset to the Rangers, but he has not established himself as a true offensive leader. Mr. Brassard has yet to achieve the ‘20 goal, 50 point season’ – a colloquial milestone of elite NHL forwards such as Logan Couture, Patrice Bergeron and Bryan Little. 3 Mr. Brassard’s inconsistent point production and erratic performance has been a significant limitation on his offensive value and potential for the Rangers hockey club. Upon his arrival from the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2012-2013 regular season, Mr.
