The pace of the academic instruction here is quite fast and for some students with poor time management, it can be quite a challenge. Efficient utilization of time is indeed crucial here. If your ward is from Kanpur or a place close to Kanpur, I would advice you to discourage him/her from visiting home frequently. While the facilities with respect to hostel accommodation and food are good, they are certainly not a substitute for those at their homes. Students must make a conscious effort to adjust to this environment. In IIT Kanpur, your ward will enjoy a lot of freedom, both academic and otherwise. In these circumstances, it is important that your wards are responsible and mature.
