You Are Beautiful! Women's Seminar with Jennifer Cadamore Learn how to believe God’s Truth about who you are, combat your insecurities, and become the woman He has planned for you to be. Zion United Methodist Church, 438 Bear Creek Road, Sarver, PA 16055 Saturday, May 21, 2016 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (doors open at 8:30 a.m.) Cost: $10.00 (preregistered by May 9th) $12.00 (after May 9th/at the door) Light lunch provided ● Door prizes ● Featured singer: Shawna Sefton

*This event is intended for ages 12 and up. In this seminar, Jennifer shares how she developed deep insecurities as a young girl in regard to her physical appearance that continued well into her 20's. They ultimately became debilitating and resulted in destructive behavior. Only by asking God for help and delving into Scripture was she able to be freed of the low self-esteem and nagging jealousy to become the woman she is today. By incorporating powerful videos, visual tools and music, she teaches how you, too, can be free. Below is a brief description of what will be discussed:  Society’s role in contributing to the low self-esteem of young girls and women  Seeing ourselves from God's perspective  Understanding how God invites us to live as women of honor  Learn how to use Scripture to combat the negative chatter in our minds

By taking the steps she’ll discuss, her hope is that you'll leave believing that because you are God's creation, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! Please visit www.jennifercadamore.com to print out a registration form or pick one up in the narthex. Those with financial need can have their event fee(s) waived simply by contacting Jennifer, either through her website or at [email protected]. All attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite Bible. (Bibles will also be available at the event for use.)

 Bishop Bickerton’s Farewell worship service: will be Friday, June 10 at 7 p.m. After 12 years of ministry as our Episcopal leader, Bishop Tom Bickerton has reached the maximum time allowed to serve an Episcopal area per our Book of Discipline, and so we will be bidding him farewell at our upcoming Annual Conference in Grove City. A reception will follow this service. Everyone is invited to attend.  Memory book: Bishop Tom and Sally have traveled within our Conference extensively, celebrating baptisms, church anniversaries, and new buildings. He’s welcomed countless confirmation classes to his office. Share with us a story or memory of the Bishop as well as any pictures associated with that story (include important identifying details with the picture). These materials will be collected into a book we will present to the Bickerton’s to tell the story of our journey together over the past 12 years. Submissions via hard copy, email, or through the Conference website will be accepted. All photos should be uploaded to the website. To submit your stories and/or photos to the website, use this direct link. To submit memories by mail or email, send to Rev. Karen Trask 336 Rattlesnake Rd. Brockway, PA. 15824 or [email protected] by May 1st.  Special offering: One of Bishop Tom’s passions has been the fight to end deaths from malaria in and he called on us to show the rest of the Connection how to get this done. At the 2016 General Conference, we will officially wrap-up the Imagine No Malaria initiative. It is our desire to provide one more donation in honor of our Bishop to INM as a gift of gratitude for our common ministry. What better way to say “thank you” than to save the life of a child from the scourge of malaria? We ask every church and ministry to help by giving a special offering, however you desire to collect it, and to send it to the Conference Center by May 1st, if possible, (so it can be counted in the total reported at General Conference). Gifts should be marked for Imagine No Malaria (not as a gift in honor of the Bishop, as we are trying to make this a surprise for him).

YOUTH

Teen Dating - Making Smart Choices, Respecting Yourself:

This module incorporates faith-based decision-making with communications skill-building. The desired outcome is to have students evaluate their relationships, both platonic and romantic, and know how to make helpful changes in behaviors and communication styles. They will be informed about attributes of healthy relationships and learn to make wise choices in all aspects of those relationships, including sexual activity. What participants contribute to a relationship is the focus rather than what they can get from the other person in a relationship.

Cherry Run Campmeeting is owned by the Franklin district of the UMC and is operated by a board of directors that is made up of both clergy and laity. The campmeeting was birthed in the Civil War era in a time when revival fires swept through our nation. Cherry Run is a camp for all ages, with programming for all. Structured children and youth programs run the full week of camp and daily we have morning and evening worship services and an afternoon Bible study. Missionaries in residence minister daily to the youth and children and to the camp family on Missions Day which is Thursday. Preaching is vibrant and evangelistic and God has met us time and time again.

Cherry Run Campmeeting does not receive any Conference or District funds and the board of directors must be very diligent in the encouragement of financial giving and volunteer involvement. As a board, we invite teams of volunteers to sign up for work projects to prepare the camp and we currently are seeking work teams of 4 adults to help in the kitchen each day, receiving instruction from the cook who is hired by the board. Work week is July 25-29 when teams are needed to prepare buildings and grounds for the campmeeting. July 30-August 7 are the dates when teams of 4 are needed in the kitchen. If your church or family would like to volunteer, please contact Judy McQueen at 724-846-7565 or at [email protected] and I will be glad to schedule you for a day of service and resultant blessing.

Windows Needed at Cherry Run Camp

Cherry Run Camp is in need of replacing several windows. We are asking if anyone is interested in adopting a window. The cost per window is $250.00. The funds can be sent to Cherry Run Camp %Don Shaffer, 4765 Ramsaytown Rd, Brookville, PA 15825. Please mark the check for windows.
