Pastor’s Corner “Let us all rejoice in the Lord as we celebrate the feast of all the Saints…”

Month of November During this month the Church commemorates all her faithful children who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith, but have not yet attained the joys of heaven – our parents, grandparents, great grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and friends. In this month of November we are encouraged to offer masses and prayers for them and especially those who died in this pandemic period whose deaths and funerals were celebrated only in a limited way.

Basket of Remembrance In keeping with the COVID-19 protocols and precautions, we will not be providing the “Book of Remembrance” this year. In place of that, we are asking you to write the name of your loved ones, friends or neighbours who have passed away this year on a piece of paper at home prior to coming to church and drop it in the basket provided by the baptismal font. Due to COVID-19, we cannot supply pen and paper.

Hour of Great Mercy As you all know, after Holy Mass on Thursday mornings, we expose the Blessed Sacrament for the day until 3:00 p.m. Since we believe that Christ Jesus died on the Cross at 3:00 p.m., we will stretch that hour of great mercy with vocal prayers. So, beginning Thursday, November 5th, we shall offer prayers and the Divine Mercy chaplet at 3:00 p.m. for Holy Mother Church, peace in our world, the sick and dying and then conclude with Benediction at 3:30 pm every Thursday. In His revelations to St. Faustina, Our Lord asked for special prayers and meditation on His Passion each afternoon at three o’clock, the hour that recalls His death on the cross. If you can join us in person in the church, that would be great, otherwise you can join us our Facebook page, as it will be livestreamed for those who can’t make it to church.

Advent Retreat I’m happy to announce that Fr. Allan Macdonald, CC, has graciously accepted to preach at our 2020 Advent retreat from December 5-9. Please mark your calendars and consider joining your parish family on what promises to be a life-changing retreat. Fr. Allan will be preaching on the theme: "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid…” (Matthew 1:20). He will preach at all masses on the weekend of Dec. 5/6. On December 9, there will parish advent reconciliation service. More on this in the days to come. May the divine assistance always remain with us, and may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen!

Fr. Paul
