SUMMARY

Our Confidential Client (“University”) is a mid-sized institution of higher education with a strategically focused presence in the online education market. They are located in the Midwest, although relocation is not required. Information regarding the University is currently confidential and will be shared with qualified & screened candidates early in the search process. On their behalf, we are seeking an experienced Chief Marketing Officer to build and lead the marketing team with additional senior leadership responsibilities likely.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) serves as the in-house expert on development. The CMO ensures that the University maintains a leadership role in the industry through the development and execution of innovative, impactful business development programs to enhance the University’s growth strategy. The incumbent is responsible for the development of short and long-term growth strategies; identifying and addressing development issues; and evaluating internal operating procedures within the University to support business development. This position manages the following business development activities: marketing strategy and planning, social media, marketing communications, military and education outreach, and potentially student enrollment.

In addition, the incumbent oversees matters regarding admissions and student advising metrics, planning and developing of growth, retention and persistence of students. This position is a member of the University Leadership Team.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

. Lead the University’s marketing and business development efforts to enhance and build the brand and student population . Likely tasked to oversee the execution of all enrollment and retention strategies, to include achieving goals related to student enrollment, start rates and retention while providing quality student service

. Review consumer, industry, and category research to identify trends and opportunities for strategic growth of the University . Manage , promotion, sponsorships, social media, outreach, and business development to enhance the University’s brand equity and image . Develop and track metrics and success criteria for all marketing, education outreach and student enrollment initiatives . Look for new and innovative ways to profitably market and promote University products and services . Develop, administer and leverage the departmental budget through on-going collaboration with senior leadership . Develop creative and cohesive programs to support the overall University growth objectives and strategies . Develop and implement powerful, business-building initiatives with select strategic partners which enhance the University brand as well as positively contribute to University brand equity among its constituencies . Implement testing programs to identify/validate potential growth opportunities . Be a principal of the development of the strategic plan . Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS & DESIRED SKILLS

. Bachelor’s degree in Business, , Finance and , Marketing, or related degree is required . Five years or more experience within business development, marketing, or organizational strategy and development required . Professional experience serving in a regulated industry . Visionary, strategic thinker, intellectually curious beyond Higher Education; a student of all industries . Demonstrate ability to successfully grow brands within highly competitive categories (preferably with major national brand(s)) . Able to synthesize research and information to create compelling business development strategies . Able to develop and leverage metrics and measurements to drive performance . Able to inspire the best from key support areas and to work effectively with other senior leaders . Demonstrate success in developing online programs, long-term brand building initiatives, and growth initiatives . . Able to take on risk without EVER cutting regulatory or ethical corners . Strong strategic planning and analytic skills in sales, marketing, and business (competitive strategy) required . Effective public speaking skills and presence required . Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required . Travel required; remote work will be considered . Able to effectively communicate orally (in person and by telephone) and in writing. . Able to multi-task, yet maintain close attention to detail and timeliness of work production. .
