Volume by volume, I'm making my way through Urasawa's Master Keaton series. A marked difference from his Monster is the episodic nature of this series. In the vast majority of its chapters, Keaton's adventures are stand-alone and can be appreciated outside of the context of the others. In some way, that's a strength of this title. On the other hand, I tend to appreciate more the longer-form stories involving Keaton, the ones that last two, three, or more segments.

The idea came from my experiences joining an after school RPG club back in my early teens (in the 80s that actually was). This was around the same age an time period of Tales from the Loop so I felt it was a perfect idea to help introduce the players. In Labyrinths & Lizards, their player-characters travel to the North Street Rec Center and play a mini meta-RPG with an NPC named Joshua (who later became a major NPC in our campaign). Players will use their Tales from the Loop PCs skills to roll the dice for their meta-Characters., and each room is designed to help them learn and understand their STATS & SKILLS for the Tales from the Loop game.

In this study, potential physiological mechanisms were examined that may enable nocturnal lizards to counteract the thermal handicap of activity at low temperatures: 1) daily rhythms of metabolic rate, 2) metabolic rate at low and high temperatures, 3) locomotor energetics, and 4) biochemical adaptation.

A Thesis entitled Yoshimoto Taka’aki, Communal Illusion, and the Japanese New Left by Manuel Yang Submitted as partial fulfillment for requirements for The Master of Arts Degree in History ________________________ Adviser: Dr. William D. Hoover ________________________ Adviser: Dr. Peter Linebaugh ________________________ Dr. Alfred Cave ________________________ Graduate School The University of Toledo (July 2005) ACKNOWLEDGMENTS It is customary in a note of acknowledgments to make the usual mea culpa concerning the impossibility of enumerating all the people to whom the author has incurred a debt in writing his or her work, but, in my case, this is far truer than I can ever say. This note is, therefore, a necessarily abbreviated one and I ask for a small jubilee, cancellation of all debts, from those that I fail to mention here due to lack of space and invidiously ungrateful forgetfulness. Prof. Peter Linebaugh, sage of the trans-Atlantic commons, who, as peerless mentor and comrade, kept me on the straight and narrow with infinite "grandmotherly kindness" when my temptation was always to break the keisaku and wander off into apostate digressions; conversations with him never failed to recharge the fiery voltage of necessity and desire of historical imagination in my thinking. The generously patient and supportive free rein that Prof. William D. Hoover, the co-chair of my thesis committee, gave me in exploring subjects and interests of my liking at my own preferred pace were nothing short of an ideal that all academic apprentices would find exceedingly enviable; his meticulous comments have time and again mercifully saved me from committing a number of elementary factual and stylistic errors.

Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} Bunkhouse Boys by Marie Piper Review: Bunkhouse Boys by Marie Piper. Kenny and Blue, two hands at the Tate Ranch, find distraction in each other from sleepless nights and days filled with hard work. Keeping their relationship a secret might be essential, but with their growing need for each other, it sure won’t be easy. Review. This was a very entertaining short story to read. Kenny and Blue are working in a ranch. In the nights Kenny is having trouble sleeping and Blue is looking for ways to release his increasing needs. Both men are willing to help each other but to make it work, they need to keep it as secret as they can. This was a very nice, fast and easy to read story. I enjoyed the circumstances they were into. I guess sharing their sleeping place with other guys is not ideal for a new relationship, but it was interesting see the way they try to figure things out. It was very short to have a complex plot, but I think the story was interesting enough. It got my attention the whole time. I wouldn’t consider it particularly romantic, but the moments the main characters had together were very exciting, especially the one near the end of the book. The characters weren’t too developed, but I guess that had more to do with the length of the book, and yet it was easy to see they were very different in some aspects. In general it was very nice book to read, it was well written and fun.

https://doi.org/10.17163/uni.n35.2021.04 Semiotic and discourse analysis of the children’s program PJ Mask or Héroes en pijamas Análisis semiótico y de discurso del programa infantil PJ Mask o Héroes en pijamas Briggette Dayanna Vega-Barriga National University of Loja, Ecuador [email protected] https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7294-3989 Mónica Maldonado-Espinosa National University of Loja, Ecuador [email protected] https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7521-6303 Received: 21/03/2021 Revised: 28/04/2021 Accepted: 18/05/2021 Published: 01/09/2021 Abstract This investigative work analyzes the discourse of the children’s series PJ Masks. The objective of our study is to determine the visual and linguistic resources used in the construction of the message. This analysis will allow us to recognize the recurring discursive characteristics, regarding the language used and the elements of visual semiotics, which allow a positive response from the children’s audience. A qualitative methodology was proposed through observation cards and discourse analysis, the linguistic and graphic characteristics present in two seasons of the children’s series were identified. In the series we recognize a simple language, words and phrases that are repeated in all episodes. The message revolves around a problem that one of the heroes must face, the conflicts that this creates for him and how with the support of his friends he overcomes it. The visual semiotic part reinforces the speech, allows the children to identify the colors of the costumes and the special places.
