Eucalyptus, Israel, invasive species, native species, insect pests, natural enemies Abstract. The fi rst successful Eucalyptus stands were planted in Israel in 1884. This tree genus, particularly E. camaldulensis, now covers approximately 11,000 ha and constitutes nearly 4% of all planted ornamental trees. Here we review and discuss the information available about indigenous and invasive species of insects that develop on Eucalyptus trees in Israel and the natural enemies of specifi c exotic insects of this tree. Sixty-two phytophagous species are recorded on this tree of which approximately 60% are indigenous. The largest group are the sap feeders, including both indigenous and invasive species, which are mostly found on irrigated trees, or in wetlands. The second largest group are wood feeders, polyphagous Coleoptera that form the dominant native group, developing in dying or dead wood. Most of the seventeen parasitoids associated with the ten invasive Eucalyptus-specifi c species were introduced as biocontrol agents in classical biological control projects. None of the polyphagous species recorded on Eucalyptus pose any threat to this tree. The most noxious invasive specifi c pests, the gall wasps (Eulophidae) and bronze bug (Thaumastocoris peregrinus), are well controlled by introduced parasitoids. -

Apopka Insect Field Guide Sarah Parker For my master's project I created a printable insect field guide specific to my area for use by the local elementary and middle schools. My property is located near both Lakeville Elementary School and Piedmont Lakes Middle School, therefore insects collected in my garden should closely approximate the insects that could potentially be seen at either school. A targeted insect guide will help facilitate any number of observational activities and may encourage the schools to plant insect friendly vegetation to increase their abundance of insects. My goal is for this teaching tool to encourage local teachers to include insect education as part of their science curriculum. There are several components to the project. First, I collected insects using a sweep net during the day and a blacklight at night. The resulting insect collection is shown in Appendix 2. I then created 20 scientific illustrations from a portion of the collection, all of which can be found in a Box folder. I used these illustrations to create the printable field guide. -

The idea is to provide a platform to researchers from all disciplines of knowledge viz. languages, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, technology, education, etc. to publish their research work and inculcate the spirit of research, high integrity, ethics and creative abilities in our students. The Solapur University; one of the youngest Universities situated on a sprawling 517 acre campus, was established by the provisions of the Maharashtra University Act 1994 by converting the three departments namely Physics, Chemistry and Geology; functioning as P.G. Centre of the then Shivaji University. The University aims for the holistic development of the students with a motto of “Vidya Sampannatta.” Since, I joined as Vice-Chancellor of Solapur University on 11 th December, 2012, I have been busy toying with the idea of making university a pioneering institute for higher education both in terms of teaching/learning and Research. Both are important dimensions of education which can determine the fate of nation when we are facing new challenges with micro and macro implications. Solapur University has placed it’s bet on the education of youth as it is the best possible investment in it’s human resource for a society/country. Out of 24 species, 5 species, Stran- galiella emotoi, Idiostrangalia quadrisignata, Rosalia (Eurybatus) nakanishii, Glaphyra shimai and Rhaphuma nishidai are described as new and 6 species, Xylotrechus quadripes Chevrolat, X. incurvatus contorsus Gahan, Chlorophorus shoreae Gardner, Rhapkuma fulgurata Gahan, Aglaophis fasciata Thomson and Artimpaza obscura Gardner are recorded from Nepal for the first time. The Cerambycidae of Nepal have been rather poorly known to science since Hope (1381), in comparison with the surrounding regions such as Sikkim, Assam and Burma or even Kashmir and Bhutan. Recently Villiers et Ch,fijB (1966) and Hayashi (1979, 1980) have contributed toward the knowledge of the Nepalese Cerambycidae based on the material brought back by Japanese expe- ditions.
