In March we have had to make important decisions on the cancellation or postponement of events, missions and seminars. The international sanitary situation with the

1 coronavirus has forced us to make a stop in our competitive season which we hope to be able to resume sometime after June 30 once the hard moments are overcome.

The International Olympic Committee has decided to change the dates of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which will take place in the summer of 2021. World Archery and World Archery Americas will reschedule our events when the conditions allow us to do so, and not any later than two months prior to the new dates.

It is now very important that our athletes, coaches, judges and federation leaders focus on keeping themselves safe, isolated, and avoiding possible sources of infection. We understand that this unfortunate situation has placed the archers who were hoping to qualify and compete at the Olympic and Paralympic Games in a state of disappointment. We would like to encourage everyone to continue their preparation from their homes. This extension of the time frames should be taken as an additional opportunity to get better prepared for the qualifiers and the Games as such.

We wish everyone in our archery family the best of health.

We are using the term “cancellation” though most of these events will hopefully be held later in the year, but in all cases the new dates will be announced at least 60 days prior to the first competition day. WAREOS will then be opened and all teams will need to register again, even if they had registered for the original dates already.

These are the WAA events that have been cancelled:

Pan Am American and Parapan American Championships, Monterrey, Mexico Para World Ranking Event, Phoenix, Arizona, USA Caribbean Development Championships, British Virgin Islands World Ranking Event, Qualifier for Pan Am Youth Games and World Games, Medellín.

We have also cancelled, with the possibility to reschedule, the WAA General Assembly, the Coaching Clinic in the British Virgin Islands, and a development mission in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Etapas de la Copa Mundial Hyundai / Stages of the Hyundai World Cup

Currently known as the Hyundai Archery World Cup, this international outdoor target circuit was first held in 2006, with its four legs hosted by Porec (), Antalya (), San Salvador (El Salvador) and (China); and the finals in Merida (Mexico) right after the Youth World Championships.

4

Fifty-four legs of the World Cup have been held: fourteen in Antalya (TUR), twelve in Shanghai (CHN), five in Medellin (COL) and Porec (CRO), 3 in Wroclaw (POL), Ogden (USA) and Berlin (GER), two in Santo Domingo (DOM) and Salt Lake City (USA), and one apiece in Boe (FRA), Dover (GBR), San Salvador (ESA), Ulsan (KOR) and Varese (ITA).

As the stages of the 2020 Hyundai Archery World Cup have been temporarily cancelled, it may be a good idea to use this time to recap and revisit the highlights of the stages already held. In our April bulletin we will present a similar compilation of the results of the World Cup Finals.

Here is a historical overview of each of the ten events: four individual and six team categories.
