Motorsport Information FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), Rally Spain Volkswagen are World Champions* – manufacturers’ title following one-two victory in Spain Wolfsburg (27 October 2013). Part two of the World Champions’ story: Volkswagen has won the manufacturers’ title in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) with an outstanding one-two victory at the Rally Spain. That means all the WRC titles* for 2013 will go to the car maker from Wolfsburg. Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F) claimed the Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ crown three weeks ago at the Rally France. The French duo went on to score an impressive win – their eighth this season – ahead of their team-mates Jari- Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) at the “Rally de España”. As a result, Volkswagen has an unassailable lead in the Manufacturers’ Championship with one round still to go this season. Winning three titles in its debut year with the Polo R WRC is Volkswagen’s greatest motorsport achievement to date. Title wins that will go down in history – Volkswagen’s debut Volkswagen’s achievements in the 2013 WRC season are unparalleled. The German team clinched all of the titles in the top category of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in its debut year – the Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ Championship and the manufacturers’ trophy. No other manufacturer has managed to win a World Championship in its first year since the World Rally Championship began. Even in the history of Formula 1, no car maker has yet taken the title in its opening season through their own efforts. Volkswagen’s performance has exceeded all expectations.

Motorsport Information FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), Rally Portugal Rally Portugal: Third win of the season for Volkswagen’s Ogier Wolfsburg (14 April 2013). Triumph on the Algarve, two Volkswagen drivers on the podium: Sébastien Ogier and co-driver Julien Ingrassia (F/F) have won the Rally Portugal ahead of Mikko Hirvonen (Citroën) and their Volkswagen team-mates Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN). Under the watchful eye of Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg (Member of the Board of Management for the Volkswagen brand), Andreas Mikkelsen and Mikko Markkula (N/FIN) completed a very good team performance for Volkswagen with sixth place on their competitive debut in the Polo R WRC. “It was great to be present at such a magnificent success,” said Dr. Hackenberg, who is responsible for technical development. “I was very impressed by the manner in which the team earned this success, and how delighted they were by it. It is just fantastic to see how well the entire team is working together. This provides great backing for our drivers, who did an extraordinary job.” The fine team performance at the fourth round of this season’s FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) sees Volkswagen move to the top of the Manufacturers’ Championship. Sébastien Ogier also extended his lead in the Drivers’ Championship, courtesy of his third win of the season. A test of technology: both man and machine pushed to the limit The second gravel rally of the season really put man and machine to the test. The conditions, with narrow, winding passages on rough, stony surfaces alternating with fast sections taken at full throttle, were the toughest encountered so far this season.

Day 3 of the Acropolis Rally was held near the service park in Loutraki. The day began with a loop comprising three stages, including a run through Aghii Theodori, a daunting 33 km stage. After restarting in 17th position in the overall standings, the only goal for Dani Sordo and Marc Marti was to finish in order to score a handful of points for Citroën in the Manufacturers’ championship. Arriving in Loutraki for the midday service, Dani Sordo was fully focused on the job in hand: “It’s never easy to run at a controlled pace but I’m taking no risks. I’m staying in the middle of the road – at times, it feels like we’re doing a recce!” Following the cancellation of a stage, the rally concluded with a second run through Aghii Theodori. Running at the same pace, Dani finished in 12 th position, which is worth four points in the Manufacturers’ standings. “Dani and Marc did a perfect job,” concluded Citroën Total World Rally Team team manager Sven Smeets. “These points are even more important because our rivals once again took a maximum score. We’re already looking ahead to the next rally. We’ll be going to Rally Poland even hungrier for a win!” RALLY FACTS Dani Sordo / Marc Marti Stage Overall SS13 : Loutraki 1 (8,98 km) 3rd +1’’5 16 th +19’33’’0 SS14 : Aghii Theodori (33,00 km) 5th +10’’0 14 th +19’21’’1 SS15 : New Pissia (11,30 km) 2nd +0’’2 14 th +19’10’’7 SS16 : Loutraki 2 (8,98 km) SS CANCELLED SS17 : Aghii Theodori (33,00 km) 2nd +5’’3 12 th +18’41’’0 Stage wins Day 1 – SS1 : Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford Focus) – SS2 : Dani Sordo (Citroën C4) – SS3 : annulée – SS4 : Evgeny Novikov (Citroën C4) – SS5 : Sébastien Ogier (Citroën C4) – SS6 : Mikko Hirvonen (Ford Focus).

  • Rallyracc 2012: Competició I Públic, Més a Prop El RACC Segueix Innovant I Suma Els Esforços De Barcelona I Salou Per Fer El Ral·Li Més Proper a L’Espectador

PRESSINFORMATION Marcus Thomasfolk Kontaktperson Informationschef 08 553 867 97 Telefon 070 35 896 57 Mobil [email protected] E-post 2013-03-07 Datum Ska Volkswagen upprepa Sverige-succén i Mexico?
