Efter årets första WRC-seger i Rally Sweden är det dags för Volkswagen att ta sig an det mexikanska VM-rallyt som startar idag. Med sträckor som går på 2700 meters höjd blir Rally Mexico säsongens högst belägna rally och en riktig utmaning för både förare och teknik. - Årets första tre rallyn är alltid lite speciella. Efter legendariska Monte och kalla Sverige ska vi nu hantera temperaturer på över 2000 meters höjd, säger Jost Capito, chef för Volkswagen Motorsport. - Rally Mexico är också årets första rally som går på grus. Det blir intressant att se hur konkurrenskraftig vår Polo R WRC är under de förhållandena. Förarna kommer att köra 394,9 kilometer fördelade på 23 specialsträckor. Den mest spektakulära inledningssträckan för säsongen väntar i kväll i Guanajuato. Platsen är en före detta silvergruva som är uppsatt på UNESCO:s världsarvslista. Volkswagen har fått en flygande start efter de två inledande WRC-tävlingarna. Sébastien Ogier, Frankrike, blev tvåa i Monte Carlo och segrade sedan i Rally Sweden. Det gör honom till total WRC-ledare, före landsmannen Sébastien Loeb, Citroën. - Jag var mycket nöjd med att vinna i Sverige. Vår teaminsats var fantastisk. Men det är gamla nyheter vid det här laget och nu är det dags för den första tävlingen på grus, här i Mexiko. För mig personligen är det lite speciellt att tävla just här. Det var här jag körde min första WRC-tävling, 2008, och jag vann mitt första race i Junior WRC-klassen. Finländaren Jari-Matti Latvala var ytterst nära en pallplats i Sverige och ligger femma i mästerskapet. Även han ser fram emot årets tredje WRC-tävling. Av den anledningen har jag tillbringat två veckor i Kalifornien före rallyt, för att acklimatisera mig. Här måste vi också anpassa oss till att greppet på grus inte skiftar lika mycket som det gjorde i till exempel Sverige. Rally Mexico pågår 7-10 mars.     Motorsport Information FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), Rally Spain Volkswagen are World Champions* – manufacturers’ title following one-two victory in Spain Wolfsburg (27 October 2013). Part two of the World Champions’ story: Volkswagen has won the manufacturers’ title in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) with an outstanding one-two victory at the Rally Spain. That means all the WRC titles* for 2013 will go to the car maker from Wolfsburg. Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F) claimed the Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ crown three weeks ago at the Rally France. The French duo went on to score an impressive win – their eighth this season – ahead of their team-mates Jari- Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) at the “Rally de España”. As a result, Volkswagen has an unassailable lead in the Manufacturers’ Championship with one round still to go this season. Winning three titles in its debut year with the Polo R WRC is Volkswagen’s greatest motorsport achievement to date. Title wins that will go down in history – Volkswagen’s debut Volkswagen’s achievements in the 2013 WRC season are unparalleled. The German team clinched all of the titles in the top category of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) in its debut year – the Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ Championship and the manufacturers’ trophy. No other manufacturer has managed to win a World Championship in its first year since the World Rally Championship began. Even in the history of Formula 1, no car maker has yet taken the title in its opening season through their own efforts. Volkswagen’s performance has exceeded all expectations.

    PRESS INFORMATION WORLD CHAMPION FORD REVEALS NEW LOOK FOR 2008 FOCUS RS WORLD RALLY CAR BIRMINGHAM , 11 January 2008 – Ford of Europe today revealed the exciting new look for its 2008 FIA World Rally Championship campaign as the team was unveiled at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham. The Focus RS World Rally Car, which powered Ford to the manufacturers' world title in both 2006 and 2007, sports a striking modern livery that took centre stage today at Europe's largest annual motorsport exhibition. It was also announced that the squad will be named the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team for 2008. The team's new driver line-up of Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala were joined by Ford of Europe's new motorsport director, Mark Deans, and team director Malcolm Wilson as they revealed the Focus RS WRC's colour scheme for the first time. "The Focus RS WRC has a new, contemporary livery which blends perfectly with the outlook of the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team," explained Deans. "This is our first full season in partnership with BP and the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and their importance to our WRC programme is reflected in the team's new name and their prominence on the car. Plutôt dégagé jeudi et vendredi, couvert samedi jusqu’à l’arrivée de la pluie en début d’après-midi, le ciel n’a pas été le meilleur allié des pilotes. Le vainqueur de l’épreuve est celui qui a su être le plus rapide et le plus constant, tout en déjouant les pièges de la route. Il s’agit de Dani SORDO sur la CITROEN DS3 WRC N°3 du CITROEN Total ABU DHABI World Rally Team. As always, the Citroën Total World Rally Team will start the event with a single ambition – victory! Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena who finished second in Sweden are aiming for a fourth win on the trot in Latin America. Dani Sordo and Marc Marti also want to shine in front of a crowd that will be rooting for them! The World Rally Championship, more than any other, guarantees a complete change of scenery in every country it visits. After the cold, the snow and the pine forests of Rally Sweden the entrants will find themselves confronted with the heat, the dust and the sombreros of Rally Mexico. The only event on the American continent, which is back on the calendar, has again gone out of its way to put on a really impressive show. “It’s a very pleasant rendezvous. You can really feel that the organisers work flat out to make this rally a big event and the spectators always give us a warm welcome. The start in the streets in the historic centre of Guanajuato is one of the highlights of the season,” exclaimed an enthusiastic Dani Sordo.
