Celebrating Years of Music A Serenade to Music “We are the music-makers And we are the dreamers of dreams…” (Arthur William Edgar O’Shaughnessy, Ode) The story of BBC Northern Ireland’s involvement in nurturing and broadcasting local musical talent is still in the making. This exhibition provides a revealing glimpse of work in progress at the BBC’s Community Archive in documenting the programmes and personalities who have brought music in all its different forms to life, and looks at how today’s broadcasters are responding to the musical styles and opportunities of a new century. It celebrates BBC NI’s role in supporting musical diversity and creative excellence and reflects changes in fashion, technology and society across 80 years of local broadcasting. “ Let us celebrate the way we were and the way we live now. • Jung on Astrology
Jung on Astrology Jung on Astrology brings together C. G. Jung’s thoughts on astrology in a single volume for the fi rst time, signifi cantly adding to our understanding of his work. Jung’s Collected Works , seminars, and letters contain numerous discussions of this ancient divinatory system, and Jung himself used astrological horoscopes as a diagnostic tool in his analytic practice. Understood in terms of his own psychology as a symbolic representation of the archetypes of the collective unconscious, Jung found in astrology a wealth of spiritual and psychological meaning and suggested it represents the “sum of all the psychological knowledge of antiquity.” The selections and editorial introductions by Safron Rossi and Keiron Le Grice address topics that were of critical importance to Jung – such as the archetypal symbolism in astrology, the precession of the equinoxes and astrological ages, astrology as a form of synchronicity and acausal correspondence, the qualitative nature of time, and the experience of astrological fate – allowing readers to assess astrology’s place within the larger corpus of Jung’s work and its value as a source of symbolic meaning for our time. The book will be of great interest to analytical psychologists, Jungian psy- chotherapists, and academics and students of depth psychology and Jungian and post-Jungian studies, as well as to astrologers and therapists of other orientations, especially transpersonal. Safron Rossi, PhD, is a Professor of mythology and depth psychology in the Jungian and Archetypal Studies specialization at Pacifi ca Graduate Institute, Cali- fornia. For many years she was curator of the Joseph Campbell and James Hillman manuscript collections.

Abstract: The culturally diverse country like India experiences a breach in establishing equality due to the prevalence of so many behavioural patterns, beliefs and ideologies both social and political. This results in the culmination of some culture attaining hegemony over others and discriminating the people of these cultural practices and suppressing them. This is an issue of high social concern which the eminent diaspora writer Githa Hariharan addresses in her fiction The Ghosts of Vasu Master. This paper looks at different factors that accelerate the repudiation of rights including physical deformity. Besides remonstrating such discriminatory factors, this paper strives to highlight the need to establish equality in the society which is inevitable for the humanity to thrive in this global world. Key Words: Diaspora; Culture; Human rights; Subalternity; Normalcy; Feminism. Refutation of human rights is a global phenomenon which is increasing day by day especially in developing counties like India. India being a pluralistic country is known for its diverse cultural patterns. These cultural patterns are decided by different religions, languages, castes, community, class and creed. These classifications divide the people of India into various strata and there is constantly a cultural pull among the people belonging to these diverse groups.
