Nokscoot to Launch New Route Between Narita - Bangkok from 1 June 2018! 23 April 2018 NokScoot to Launch New Route between Narita - Bangkok from 1 June 2018! NokScoot Airlines (IATA code: XW) will launch a new service between Narita and Bangkok (Don Mueang Airport) from 1 June 2018. NokScoot is a joint-venture between Scoot Airlines, the Singapore LCC and Nok Air, the Thai LCC and this will be their first scheduled service to Narita Airport. Bangkok is the capital city of the Kingdom of Thailand, which is known as the “Land of Smiles” and is the major tourism oriented country in Asia. It is a tremendously popular destination for tourists from around the world with its many temples to visit, shopping, unique tasting cuisine and other attractions. Narita Airport continues to expand its air route network so that it can continue to provide more choice of destinations and convenience. This new service to Bangkok by NokScoot adds another reason that travelers should take advantage of our growing network. Daily flights from Tokyo to Bangkok from rate JPY 9,500 one-way up for grabs Tokyo, April 23, 2018 – NokScoot, the joint venture offspring of Singapore’s Scoot and Thailand’s Nok Air, today launches ticket sales for the long-awaited non-stop flights from Tokyo's Narita airport to Bangkok Don Mueang airport which will start its daily operation from June 1, 2018. "It's been a long time coming, but our flights from Tokyo to Bangkok are finally set for take-off soon!” NokScoot CEO Yodchai Sudhidhanakul confirmed. “The Bangkok–Narita route will mark our first foray into the Japanese market after having flown to China and Taiwan for the past four years.” The Bangkok–Narita service has always been a key part of NokScoot's long-term growth strategy. Since the airline’s inception in 2014, NokScoot has been preparing for the Bangkok-Narita launch working through regulatory issues between the Thai and Japanese authorities. “NokScoot’s Bangkok–Narita flight will be instrumental in achieving its 2018 growth targets with strong demand for the route,” Mr. Yodchai added. “Following the launch to Tokyo, NokScoot plans to further spread its footprints in North Asia and we plan to add more new routes this year.” To celebrate the highly anticipated launch, NokScoot is offering promotional fares starting from JPY 9,500, Economy one-way FLY fare, tax-inclusive from Tokyo to Bangkok for travel period from June 1 to October 27, 2018.     Executive Summary Executive Summary The compound annual growth rate of Thai air transport over the past 10 years (2010 – 2019) was 11.4 percent with an average annual growth rate of international passengers of 10.8 percent and average annual growth rate of domestic passengers of 12.1 percent. In 2019, there was a total of 165 million passengers which increased by only 1.8 percent compared to the previous year. Total passengers in 2019 consisted of 89 million internationl passengers which increased by 7.2 percent and 76 million domestic passengers which decreased by 3 percent compared to the previous year and is considered the first domestic passengers decline in 10 years. Considering the proportions of domestic and international passengers in 2019, there were consistent with an average growth rate of flights over 10 years of 9.8 percent per year which consisting of an international flight growth of 9.7 percent per year and domestic flight growth of 9.8 percent per year. In 2019, there was a total of 1.06 million flights which decreased by 2.7 percent from the previous year due to the airlines reduced their domestic flights and increased the number of seats on international routes. As a result, the number of domestic flights decreased by 6.89 percent from the previous year. Considering the air freight volume of Thailand during this period, an overall average volume of air freight growth was 0.8 percent per year. The total volume of air freight in 2019 was 1.49 million tons, showing a 7.9 percent decrease compared to the previous year, most of which were international air freight at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
