Page 2 President’s Box Howdy! My name is Mike Linam, and it’s my honor to again serve as President of the Highland Lakes A&M Club for 2020. Over the past year, our local Aggies have gathered together for Aggie Muster, several Aggie Social Happy Hours, the Clemson Tailgate Party and the Holiday Party! Our Muster Speaker for 2019 was Barry Hendler ‘71. Barry is the President and CEO of American Lumber Inc. and was a recipient of the 2006 AGGIE 100 Award. Muster gave us an opportunity to reconnect to our Aggie roots and each other as we honored our Aggie brethren who’ve passed on before us. We also awarded five scholarships of $5,000 each to another impressive group of future Aggies. In addition, a rare Sixth Scholarship of $5,000 was also awarded this year in honor of R.M. Burnam, Sr. Class of ‘23. This scholarship was sponsored by Mr. Burnam’s children: Bobby Burnam, Alice Johnson and Sam Burnam ’65. Of note, we increased the scholarship amount from $3,000 up to $5,000 per student in 2019. That’s a significant increase! You can help us ensure we’re able to continue helping these aspiring Aggies by becoming an Aggie Spirit Sponsor. See Page 6 to learn more about it and check out a Tax Smart Gifting Strategy some of you might employ for Qualified Charitable Distributions on Page 7 to get a little more mileage out of your gifting dollars. Something new we added this year were monthly Aggie Socials! These happy hours have been a great way for Aggies to meet each other outside the typical Club events and get to know each other better. Take a look at our 2020 Social Calendar on Page 4 to see which events you may want to add to your calendar. Speaking of events, the 2020 Aggie Classic Golf Tournament is just around the corner! Take a look at Page 9 for details and registration. It’s time to form your teams and begin thinking about how you can hit a Hole-in One! Why? Because Johnson Sewell - Lincoln will be sending the winner home with a Brand New Lincoln Aviator! Yes, a brand new car! Good luck players. Cliff graduated Texas A&M University with a Bachelors of Health Education in 1987 and a Masters in Adult Extension Education in 1989. Cliff is a motivational speaker and author of “Lessons from the Rams” published in 2017. He’s a master story teller who draws on 29 years of working, and walking, with thousands of high school/college students. Approaching 1000 speeches with audiences at West Point, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Stanford, A&M, UT and numerous corporate events. He’s also spoken at 32 Muster ceremonies, 70 A&M Clubs and Aggie Mother's Clubs and at over 20 Fish Camps. Cliff is also a recipient of the Buck Weirus Spirit Award. We are sure you will enjoy Cliff’s talk and hope you can join us. In addition to hearing from Cliff, our program will include the awarding of the 2020 Highland Lakes A&M Foundation Scholarships to local Burnet County High School Students. Finally, we will conclude with the the solemn Muster Ceremony in which we acknowledge and honor those Aggies who have passed away over the last year.     Highlights of the 2010 River Management Society and National Association of Recreation Resource Planners Symposium The River Management Society joined with the National Association of Recreation Resource Planners (NARRP) to host their biennial symposium on river management. Recognizing resource protection as a core value, the symposium explored how scientists, planners, and managers are maintaining or restoring ecosystem sustainability while providing opportunities for high quality recreation experiences on rivers, lakes, and reservoirs. Participants at the symposium interacted with regional and national leaders in river conservation and recreation management through a diverse program. The symposium theme, “Bridging Conservation and Recreation” recognizes that resource professionals too often become narrowly focused in their specialties, and that effective long- term management usually requires broader cross-disciplinary solutions. The symposium provided opportunities for professionals to network and integrate their knowledge from many fields. Attendees left with renewed creativity and passion for natural resource management in watersheds. Washington, DC 20554 Re: MM Docket No. 00-244 Dear Ms. Dortch: Yesterday, Jack Goodman, Karen Kirsch and the undersigned of NAB; Brian Madden of Leventhal, Senter & Lerman; and Greg Masters and Chris Robbins of Wiley Rein & Fielding met with Susan Eid and Alex Johns to discuss the definition of radio markets. We made the following points: · Due to the scattered location and widely varying signal strength of radio stations, any method of defining radio markets will produce a certain number of anomalies. The current market definition method has produced only a small number of anomalies in comparison to the large number of radio transactions since 1996. The current method is also stable in operation, well understood by the industry, and accurately identifies the stations that potentially compete against each other for listeners and advertisers. Adopting a revised market definition will only create a different and unpredictable set of anomalies. · The Commission lacks the authority to alter its radio market definition at this juncture. Because Congress in 1996 addressed local radio ownership limits and did not change the Commission’s well-established interpretation of what constitutes a radio market, then that interpretation should, under existing court precedent, be regarded as the interpretation intended by Congress. Certainly the Commission should not alter its market definition to cut back on the level of local radio consolidation expressly approved by Congress in 1996. · The Commission should not adopt Arbitron radio markets, for a variety of reasons.

Texas Master Naturalist Still Marching On.” – Angie Morrison, Lost Pines Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist Program THE TEXAS MASTER NATURALIST™ PROGRAM “Through the Master Naturalist™ volunteer program, you can help make an impact in your community and Texas’ natural resource future …” The short supply of dedicated and well-informed citizens and volunteers is often cited as a limiting factor for community- based conservation efforts. The Texas Master Naturalist™ program works to address this need by developing local corps of “master volunteers” to provide service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within the volunteers’ own communities. Communities and organizations across the state rely on these skilled volunteers for implementing youth outreach programs; for operating parks, nature centers, and natural areas; and for providing leadership in local natural resource conserva­ tion efforts. In addition, private landowners depend on the expertise of these volunteers to help them gain a broader scientific understanding of the ecology and management of their biological resources. This partnership among the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Texas AgriLife Extension Service and over 300 local partners has resulted in a unique master volunteer organization. At the state level, the organization is directed by two pro­ gram coordinators and a steering committee responsible for providing training guidelines, program marketing and promotion, curriculum resources, and advanced training opportunities for the chapters and their volunteers. At the local level, chapters consist of our trained volunteers aided by personnel from the partnering agencies as advisors and partnerships with additional community organizations sharing our mission.
