Iowa 1,200 The board of educational examiners consists of the superintendent of public in- struction, who is president and executive officer of the board, the president of the State University of Iowa, the president of the Iowa State Teachers College, the president of the Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, three persons appointed by the governor, one of whom shall be a woman and one of whom shall be a representative of the privately endowed colleges of the state maintaining teacher training courses. The board has charge of the granting of state and uniform county teachers' certificates. It determines what colleges may be accredited under the statute for state teachers' certificates and fixes standards for teacher training courses, what certificates of other states may be accepted under the statute for Iowa teachers' certificates and the graduates of what colleges and normal schools of other states may be given certificate recognition.
