Caregiving for a parent, spouse, family member or friend can be both wonderful and exhausting. What are you to do if you need to go to work, attend an appointment or simply take time for yourself? Adult day service is the perfect answer and Joy’s House is here to help. What we do: Joy’s House serves adults living with life-altering diagnoses and their families by providing exceptional adult day and caregiver services. We have big dreams: We envision a world where all individuals with life-altering diagnoses and their families are living fulfilled lives of knowledge, choice and comfort. Our Guest are our heart: We treat everyone with dignity and compassion through our exceptional care. Located in Broad Ripple and on the south side of Indianapolis, Joy’s House provides two locations for adult day services. We host Guests (clients) seeking safety, companionship and engagement in the community. Many of our Guests are no longer able to stay at home alone safely due to basic aging or a variety of diagnoses, including, but not limited to dementia, Parkinson’s disease, autism, multiple sclerosis and Down syndrome. Joy’s House services are designed for those with a wide range of abilities and interests. You take care and leave the rest to us: One in three people in our community is a family caregiver for an aging or disabled loved one, and the number of at-home family caregivers is steadily increasing. Across greater Indianapolis, Joy’s House offers caregiver support services and educational opportunities to family caregivers caring for an aging or disabled loved one. Our CARE Program includes: • A Day Away Caregiver Retreat: This one-day retreat empowers and educates you in caring for your loved one. • CARE Kits: This Kit helps you pre-plan and keep important information in one place, while also providing templates to track medications, behavior changes and much more. • Caregiver Expressions: These monthly groups are your place to have fun, unwind and grow. • Caregiver Crossing: Our podcast is hosted by Tina McIntosh along with Sarah Shadday from Joy’s House, and serves to embrace family caregivers of today and tomorrow. New episodes are published on joyshouse.org every Thursday. • Support and Resource Groups: These small groups are a safe place to share and learn. • 1-on-1 Support Meetings: Meet with a member of our Caregiver Support Services team for personalized support. And we are not done yet: With the help of donors, partners and volunteers in our community, we will continue to serve more than 120 adults living with a life altering diagnosis and more than 400 caregiving individuals in Greater Indianapolis annually. 2 2018 ANNUAL REPORT ® BOTH LOCATIONS JANUARY 1 – DECEMBER 31, 2018 TOTAL EXPENSE $1,693,694 15% 78% Guest & Caregiver Programming & Support 7% $1,328,570 Fundraising & Events $115,250 Professional Expenses & Admininstration $249,874 TOTAL SUPPORT $1,581,731 4% 40% 56% Program Fees $636,772 Fundraising & Events $877,503 In-kind (Goods & Services) $67,456 Please note that these numbers do not reflect gifts restricted year-to-year.
