Giarnni Takes Gold and Joe Bags Bronze at European Championships 17 year old Giarnni Regini-Moran has conquered European after being crowned the 2016 junior European all-around champion in Bern (SUI). Giarnni showed exactly why he is being tipped for senior stardom with an outstanding display across the six apparatus to comfortably take the title with a score of 86.198 points. Joe Fraser joined Giarnni on the medal podium with a fine display characterised by high skill and a great determination to succeed, as proven by his pressure routine on the final apparatus high bar, which secured the bronze medal with 83.764 points. Giarnni was delighted to have won the title saying: "Last up on high bar the final routine there was a bit of pressure so I was so happy to nail that routine and take the gold and it shows that my hard work has paid off. I know vault and floor are my biggest pieces and opportunities to gain an edge so that was important to do that. I don’t know what the future will bring, I still have finals this Sunday and then we will start to think about my senior career. Nothings impossible in terms of the Olympics, I’ll keep doing my best and see what happens." Joe added: "I feel ecstatic! After the errors on parallel bars I had to get my mind focused for high bar and to come away with a bronze is everything I’ve ever wanted. My training paid off, we’ve played out all kinds of scenarios in the gym for situations like today and it’s worked." Having qualified in top spot and 4th respectively, Giarnni (Europa Gym Club in Kent ) and Joe (City of Birmingham gymnastics club ) were in the same group and began on floor. Joe looked confident in style with big, high tumbling well received by the many GB fans (14.100 points) whilst Giarnni showed his incredible twisting tumbles with an early high statement score of 14.900. On pommel Joe showed great fight and composure to safely negotiate his routine for 14.300 points, Giarnni following in similar fashion (13.833) to keep up the great start. On rings Giarnni nailed a perfect landing after a tidy routine (13.866) whilst Joe showed difficult skills and a similar high quality dismount for a superb 14.066 points. After three apparatus the boys were exceling themselves both up on their qualifying scores and placed one and two in the rankings with Giarnni narrowly ahead. Giarnni is well known for his difficult twisting vaulting and he showed it again with a brilliant highly difficult pass to score an impressive 15.466, Joe was equally exacting in his pass for a score of 14.466. Giarnni’s parallel bars was solid and kept him at the top of the standings, whilst Joe had to battle through his routine to score 13.166. Going to high bar the final apparatus Joe was placed 4th and Giarnni top. Joe shook of any disappointment from parallel bars to put in a magnificent final display, showing his skill and courage under pressure to score 13.666 and with his closest rival Mboyo of Switzerland having difficulty he sealed the bronze medal. Giarnni was the last to compete and he proved why he is a worthy champion, calm and composed his high bar scored him 13.533 easily enough to seal to European title. 33rd International Conference on Biomechanics in Sports, Poitiers, France, June 29 - July 3, 2015 Floren Colloud, Mathieu Domalain & Tony Monnet (Editors) Coaching and Sports Activities KINEMATIC ANALYSIS OF BASKET WITH 5/4 TURN TO HANDSTAND OF SHIXIONG ZHOU ON PARALLEL BARS Wei Xie, Jihe Zhou, Shuai Wang Chengdu Sport University, Chengdu, China The basket with 5/4 turn to handstand on parallel bars is a representative movement of E group; in 1896 it is listed as the Olympic Games project. The parallel bars have been one of the Chinese men's gymnastics advantage projects since 1980s. From 1980 to 2011, China's elite athletes Li Yuejiu, Lou Yun, Li Jing, Huang Liping, Zhang Jingjin, Li Xiaopeng and Yang Wei won more than a dozen times world champion on the parallel bars in the world gymnastics competitions. China's athletes can keep long-term advantage of this project status and competitive strength, in addition to keep pace with the times innovation of difficult moves, there is another important reason is to continuously improve the leading trend of action quality. KEY WORDS: Kinematic analysis, Shixiong Zhou, parallel bars. INTRODUCTION: At present, only Chinese gymnast ShiXiong Zhou can complete this action in the world, in the final of the 2012 national gymnastics championships in the parallel bars, ShiXiong Zhou failed to complete the action very well. Therefore, in order to improve the quality of this action, it’s necessary to analyze the action from both qualitative and quantitative aspects. We made a 3D camera resolution on ShiXiong Zhou at the game site, with the three-dimensional analysis we gained the kinematic parameters. Thus to analyze the reasons of errors, which provides theoretical and technical basis for the development and improvement of Chinese athletes.

  • The Parallel Bars Movements with Strain of Bars
35th Conference of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports, Cologne, Germany, June 14-18, 2017 THE PARALLEL BARS MOVEMENTS WITH STRAIN OF BARS AW Suraj Chandana, Lv Wangang, Yi Mingnong and Wei Xubo Department of Sports Engineering, Wuhan Sports University, Wuhan, China The long swing movements of a national level gymnast (50.4kg) were used to observe time history of joint angles of body and the middle points of the parallel bars in different conditions. Parallel bars were modelled using four massless spring dampers and two point masses. Further, a 50kg metal spear was attached to the middle points of the parallel bars and their oscillations on different planes were observed. Parameters were calculated using a parallel bars model and were compared with the standard specifications of the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG). Hence, the dynamic forces which are acting on the middle points of the parallel bars for a longswing movement were calculated. KEY WORDS: gymnastic, long swing movement, parallel bars, strain, INTRODUCTION: The International Gymnastic Federation has introduced different varieties of execution errors for long swing (in hang on parallel bars) movements (Code of Point, 2017). To minimise the execution errors of movement, gymnasts need to utilise bar strain in the correct manner. Therefore, gymnasts need to know how well they utilise not only the body dynamics but also the dynamic properties of exercise equipment/apparatus which interact with their bodies (Yamasaki, Yasuhiro & Gotoh, 2008). The bar strain of parallel bars significantly affects artistic completion of high difficulty long swing movements on bars. For this aspect, biomechanical models can provide with important factors which are based on performance (Hiley & Yeadon, 2005).

THE XITH OLYMPIC GAMES BERLIN, 1936 OFFICIAL REPORT VOLUME II BY ORGANISATIONSKOMITEE FÜR DIE XI. OLYMPIADE BERLIN 1936 E.V. PUBLISHED BY WILHELM LIMPERT, BERLIN, S.W. 68 The Dietrich Eckart Open-Air Theatre provided an ideal site for the gymnastic competitions. Gymnastics When the preliminary work for the gymnastic contests was begun in 1933, the circumstance arose that the body concerned, the German Gymnastic Association, did not belong to the International Gymnastic Federation. Individual German gymnasts had competed in earlier Olympic Games, but there had been no official participation of the German Gymnastic Association. Now, in the few years between 1933 and 1936, it was necessary to establish a union with the nations represented in the International Gymnastic Federation. The Gymnastic World Championship contests, held in Budapest in 1934, offered the first opportunity to establish this contact. On the occasion of these contests, Germany, that is, the German Gymnastic Association, was admitted into the International Gymnastic Federation. On this occasion, the German men gymnasts for the first time participated as a group 837 in an international contest, competing against 12 nations. The Olympic Games offered the German women gymnasts their first opportunity to test their ability in an international contest. The problem of the manner in which the gymnastic contests should be carried out was studied in great detail by the Organizing Committee. When it was certain that the Dietrich Eckart Theatre would be constructed, the problem of a suitable contest site was solved. It was then possible to begin the purely technical part of the preparations-the provision of the apparatus, the publication of the exercises, etc.
