17 year old Giarnni Regini-Moran has conquered European after being crowned the 2016 junior European all-around champion in Bern (SUI). Giarnni showed exactly why he is being tipped for senior stardom with an outstanding display across the six apparatus to comfortably take the title with a score of 86.198 points.

Joe Fraser joined Giarnni on the medal podium with a fine display characterised by high skill and a great determination to succeed, as proven by his pressure routine on the final apparatus high bar, which secured the bronze medal with 83.764 points.

Giarnni was delighted to have won the title saying: "Last up on high bar the final routine there was a bit of pressure so I was so happy to nail that routine and take the gold and it shows that my hard work has paid off. I know and are my biggest pieces and opportunities to gain an edge so that was important to do that. I don’t know what the future will bring, I still have finals this Sunday and then we will start to think about my senior career. Nothings impossible in terms of the Olympics, I’ll keep doing my best and see what happens."

Joe added: "I feel ecstatic! After the errors on parallel bars I had to get my mind focused for high bar and to come away with a bronze is everything I’ve ever wanted. My training paid off, we’ve played out all kinds of scenarios in the gym for situations like today and it’s worked."

Having qualified in top spot and 4th respectively, Giarnni (Europa Gym Club in Kent ) and Joe (City of Birmingham gymnastics club ) were in the same group and began on floor. Joe looked confident in style with big, high tumbling well received by the many GB fans (14.100 points) whilst Giarnni showed his incredible twisting tumbles with an early high statement score of 14.900. On pommel Joe showed great fight and composure to safely negotiate his routine for 14.300 points, Giarnni following in similar fashion (13.833) to keep up the great start. On Giarnni nailed a perfect landing after a tidy routine (13.866) whilst Joe showed difficult skills and a similar high quality dismount for a superb 14.066 points. After three apparatus the boys were exceling themselves both up on their qualifying scores and placed one and two in the rankings with Giarnni narrowly ahead.

Giarnni is well known for his difficult twisting vaulting and he showed it again with a brilliant highly difficult pass to score an impressive 15.466, Joe was equally exacting in his pass for a score of 14.466. Giarnni’s parallel bars was solid and kept him at the top of the standings, whilst Joe had to battle through his routine to score 13.166. Going to high bar the final apparatus Joe was placed 4th and Giarnni top. Joe shook of any disappointment from parallel bars to put in a magnificent final display, showing his skill and courage under pressure to score 13.666 and with his closest rival Mboyo of Switzerland having difficulty he sealed the bronze medal. Giarnni was the last to compete and he proved why he is a worthy champion, calm and composed his high bar scored him 13.533 easily enough to seal to European title.
