In March 2003 the inaugural meeting of the Otterbourne Parish Plan and Village Design Statement project team took place, by which time 40 volunteers had come forward to offer their assistance in a variety of roles from Project Leader to "Foot Soldiers" who were prepared to distribute letters and collect surveys.

At their meeting held on Monday 12th November 2016 the Parish Council agreed to object to the Boundary Commission proposal and request that the Parish of Hursley remains within the Winchester Constituency. The Parish of Hursley includes the hamlet of Pitt and both are geographically close to the City of Winchester and have long standing community ties with the City. Consequently, the Parish Council on behalf of the residents of Hursley would prefer to remain within the constituency of Winchester, ideally, together with our neighbouring parishes of Otterbourne, Compton and Shawford. We respectfully request that you reconsider this aspect of your proposals based on the evidence of the close community ties with our neighbouring parishes and with the Winchester City and wider District. We do not have similar close community links with Romsey and the Test Valley. Geography Our Parish borders the City of Winchester. Some of our residents, for example live on Sarum Road situated close to the heart of the city. With the proposed changes their next-door neighbours would be allocated to a Winchester City Ward and Winchester MP whilst they would be served by a Romsey MP based 17 miles away. We share many common issues with central Winchester being located on the main traffic route into Winchester via the A3090, local housing development, secondary schools, GP surgeries, the County Hospital, Winchester railway station and bus service.

    Alresford and District Neighbourhood Watch Association NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING TEAM IN ALRESFORD AN INTRODUCTION FROM OUR NEW SERGEANT, BETHAN WOOD As a new Sergeant, new to the area, and new to the role of Neighbourhood Policing, I was grateful that the first community representatives I got to meet were from one of the two Neighbourhood Watch Teams that we work in conjunction with here in Winchester Rural District. It must have been a productive meeting as I then agreed to explain in the local magazine who we are and what we do! SO, WHO ARE WE? The Winchester Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) is part of Winchester District. We also have NPTs based in Winchester City and Bishops Waltham. We work closely together as a district to have the right people, in the right place, and at the right time. The team at Alresford are co- located at the Fire Station and cover a large area that includes Shawford, Sutton Scotney, Micheldever, Otterbourne, Sparsholt, Kingsworthy, Itchen Abbas, Northington, Beauworth, Bramdean, Bishops Sutton, New Alresford and Old Alresford – to name just a few. We choose to simplify this by splitting it into three areas, each covered by a PCSO and overseen by myself. The Western and Northern beat areas, are covered by PCSOs Kerry Croutear and Amey Stevens. The Eastern area rather conveniently aligns with the Alresford & District Neighbourhood Watch Association area and is covered by PCSO Rhys Griffiths. WHAT DO WE DO? My team is responsible for many different areas of work including managing risk and vulnerability, engagement, crime prevention, and sign posting to other agencies with whom we work together to keep, you, your families, and our communities safer.
