LAST TIME : Hickman suffered the loss at Great Lakes in game one of a doubleheader after allowing career-highs in walks (5), home runs (3) and runs (8) over four innings. The Loons hit home runs in three consecutive innings against Hickman. Justin Yurchak hit a solo shot in the second, Joe Vranesh hit a three-run homer in the third and Ryan Ward hit a two-run in the fourth. The Captains lost the game, 14-6.

COLLEGE ACCOLADES: Hickman was named a Preseason All-American by Collegiate Game, and Second

Team Preseason All-America by Perfect Game before the shortened 2020 season.

2020 DRAFT: Cleveland selected Hickman in the fifth round (154th overall) of the 2020 draft, which was shortened to five rounds. This was considered a bit of a steal by some outlets with both Perfect Game and Baseball America ranking Hickman as the 65th best draft prospect entering the draft.

COLLEGE CLINCHER: Hickman’s shining moment at Vanderbilt came in 2019 as he helped lead the Commodores to their second National Championship in school history. In the series clinching win, Hickman started for Vanderbilt tossing six strong innings, allowing just one run while fanning 10 Wolverines in the 8-2 win. He also started in the CWS semifinals against Louisville throwing six scoreless frames and surrendering just two hits with three . In four total NCAA Tournament starts he went 2-0 with a 1.57 ERA in 23 innings.

CAPTAINS AND VANDY: Hickman is just the second Captain ever to come out Vanderbilt. The first and only other Commodore to come to Lake County was catcher on the 2003 Captains and Lake County Manager in 2012, David Wallace.
