Under his leadership, the Huskies overcame numerous injuries and setbacks to come within three outs of winning the Pac-12 regular season title. UW would finish 35-26 and third in the Pac-12 at 20-10. The 20 wins in Confer- ence action were the second most by a Husky team since 1997 and tied for third most in school history. The team earned its third NCAA Regional bid over the last five seasons and Meggs would navigate the Huskies to the their first-ever Super Regional, followed by the team’s inaugural College World Series appearance. He was awarded a two-year contract extension in January, 2019 that will keep him at UW through the 2025 season. Others Off the field, Meggs has helped the Huskies make perhaps their greatest strides in the classroom. Since his arrival, the Student Managers UW Baseball team has consistently posted a 3.0 or higher grade point average, doing so in 18 of the last 20 quarters. Jacob Garcia (1st year) In the most recent quarter this past fall, the baseball team earned the UW athletic department’s most improved team Jacob Hatloe (4th year) with a 3.16 GPA and had 22 student-athletes obtain 3.0 or higher – six of which made the Dean’s List. Joe Murray (1st year) In 2017, the Huskies were 28-26 overall and contended for a post-season berth until the very end. Meggs’ Huskies were ranked as high as 10th during the year and were once again one of the nation’s best defensive teams. The Director of Ops Huskies had a .982 to lead the Pac-12 and rank third nationally. They committed 36 errors during Joe Meggs (4th year) the season, the fewest by a Husky squad in the 40 years that defensive stats have been archived. Athletic Trainer Meggs led the Huskies to the NCAA Regionals for the second time in 2016. The Huskies were picked eighth in the Dave Nakama Iain Mistrot (3rd year) pre-season coaches poll, but exceeded expectations by finishing second in the Pac-12 with a 33-23 overall record, Volunteer Assistant Coach 17-13 in Conference action. They were the No. 3 seed at Vanderbilt and went 1-2, beating and eliminating the host Outfielders & Hitting Coach Strength and Conditioning Commodores in the tournament. Four Huskies earned All-Conference honors, including Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year, Troy (2nd year) Gabriel Derman (2nd year) Rallings, who was also a first team All-American and a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist. Washington finished with a 29-25 overall record in 2015, one year after Meggs led the Huskies to one of their best Meggs’ Coaching Career seasons in school history. The team finished with a record of 41-17-1, 21-9 in Pac-12 play in 2014. It was the fifth time Washington (10 years) in UW history the Huskies achieved 40 or more wins, the first time since 2003. The team reached its highest rankings in school history, checking in at fifth in the Baseball America, and Collegiate Baseball polls during the Year Overall Pct. Conf. Place Postseason season. For his efforts, Meggs was named the 2014 Pac-12 Coach of the Year.
