In general, books in this category were below standard, even allowing for the limitations and known d ifficulties involved in designing educational texts. No one book was deserving of the award, however, two commendations have been given for partic ular strengths in the design of the selected books. As there is no Award winner in this category the monetary prize will be awarded to the first commendation. There appeared to be a lack of the initiative and independent design expected in a category for young designers.
