The following new species are described (all the types are from Finland): Cystoderma saarenoksae Harmaja, Cystoderma niveum HarmaJa, Hygrophorus korhonenii Harmaja, Mycena lammiensis Harmaja, and Mycena occulta HarmaJa. Melanoleuca brachyspora Harmaja (nomen novum) must replace M. brevispora Harmaja (non Singer). The following new combination is made: Hygrophorus subviscifer (Karst.) Harmaja. Hygrophorus albidus Karst. (lectotype selected here) and H. spodoleucus Moser are reduced to synonymy with H. subviscifer. Mycena pelianthina (Fr. ) Que!. is reported as new to Finland. Observations on some species of Hygrocybe subgenus Cuphophyllus Eef Arnolds Biological Station, Wijster (Drente), Netherlands* The nomenclature of the violaceous of grey species Hygrocybe subgenus Cuphophyllus and the taxonomic position of H. subradiata are discussed. One new species is described and onenew combination is made, viz. Hygrocybe radiata and H. flavipes. In Europe usually two species with a grey violaceous to lilac pileus are distinguished within Hygrocybe subgenus Cuphophyllus Donk (= Camarophyllus sensu auct.), named H. subvio- lacea (Peck) Orton & Watl. and H. lacmus (Schum.) Orton & Watl. The former species is characterized by an entirely white stipe and aromatic smell, whereas the latter species has a yellow base of stipe and no characteristic smell. Recently, Raid& Boertmann (1988) demonstrated that the name Agaricus lacmus Schum. has been since Schumacher did mention (1803: 333) currently misinterpreted not a yellow base of stipe in the original description and an unpublished, authentic plate by that author shows white lacmus Schum. is an entirely stipe. Consequently, Agaricus an earlier synonym ofHygrophorus subviolaceus Peck (1900: 82) and H. lacmus sensu auct. (with a yellow stipe base) should have a new name. According to Raid & Boertmann (1988) the oldest available name is Hygrophorus flavipes Britz. This epithet was not yet combinedin Hygrocybe and thereforethe following combina- tion is proposed: Hygrocybe flavipes (Britz.) Arnolds, comb. nov. — Basionym: Hygrophorus flavipes Britz., Hymenomyc. Stidbayern 8: 10, fig. 69. 1891. For nomenclatural reasons one new species is described, viz. Hygrophorus persoonii, identical with H. dichrous Kühn. & Romagn. Brandon Matheny Abstract: Five North American Hodophilus species with naphthalene-like odours are now recognized based on sequence and (or) morphological data and molecular annotation of type collections. Two well-supported eastern North American species do not match any of the studied types and are described here as new: Hodophilus hesleri and Hodophilus smithii. The previously described Hodophilus paupertinus is found to represent an autonomous species and appears restricted to western North America. Hodophilus subfuscescens is found to be an independent lineage in eastern North America. A morphological type study of Hodophilus peckianus shows that it is a distinct species and not represented among recent collections. Multilocus phylogenetic analyses of European and North American material of species with naphthalene odours reveal no species with transatlantic distributions. Overall, Hodophilus comprises two superclades (the Hodophilus foetens superclade and the Hodophilus micaceus superclade) and 16 terminal clades that correspond to phylogenetic species. This study introduces a new approach for morpholog- ical delimitation of agaricoid Clavariaceae combining shape and dimensions of particular elements in the pileipel- lis and caulocystidia. All previously described taxa included in this study, which were previously treated in the genera Hygrophorus, Camarophyllopsis,orHygrotrama, are formally transferred to Hodophilus. In this study, a phylogenetic overview of the H. olivaceoalbus-complex based on internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequenc- es was made, and a local popular edible species from southwestern China was described as a new species H. annulatus. This new species is characterized by grayish brown, olive brown to dark brown pileus disc, inflexed to deflexed pileus margin, obvious and dark brown annulus, basidiospores measuring (8.0–)8.5–11.0(–12.0) × 5.0–7.5(–8.0) μm, and the distribution in subalpine forests dominated by Abies and/or Picea in southwestern China.
