Bell Fibe Movie presented- about first tank day 2018. The season ended with the Remembrance Day Parade in November capping a great year. Rhetorical question as how to keep the momentum, and up our game. Improvements to Tank Day planned, Black Hat BBQ will be big in 2019, and will include a vehicle show. The RCAC agrees that this Museum is their Museum. Looking to improve showmanship and the experience. 1- Military Vehicle Conservation Centre Museum President Curation and Improvements in 2019 With heated building, we have 4 extra months to prepare the vehicles. We have more students and tours. We have to improve descriptions and photos of vehicles in action as part of our display. Painting of vehicles, adding pioneer tools, to be added to improve cosmetics and realism. Continued Vehicle work through winter 2018-19 Centurion Malcolm gave two phases, 1. Get engine running, installed and the tank drivable. Then restoring the looks of the vehicle (which will take a much longer). Concerns with clutch, and the conditions of the transmission and final drives will be determined only when the vehicle is moving. Suspension is in poor condition, but with the limited annual operation miles put on the vehicle it is not immediately an issue. Flak 38 88mm Work underway, barrel repaired and unplugged and breech is close to functional. Progress, but a long way to go. Repair/Cosmetic/ Kitting vehicles out, teams will be formed to do the work. 2- Future Expansion Plans and Opportunities 2019 Museum President The South field study was delayed by election, and with due to flaws in study itself. We have to get the Mayor and Council to buy into the plan so that we can continued the growth and expansion of the Museum. With control of the South Lands, growth will be possible. 2018 was profitable, in 2019 there will be a surplus, but a search for new donors will be made to ensure steady funding, as well as improving the relationship with Brock Street Brewers for the Licensing and sale of Armoured Ale 3-Museum Membership Executive Director Cleaning up the Membership List J Blowers noted that we have members that are no longer active, that we will reach out to see if they want to be active or be removed from the list. Recruitment / Additional Ontario Regiment Involvement We will continue to enhance recruiting new members, as well as members of the Ontr association, serving members of the regiment, and other regiments. Membership Renewal / Sign-up Time to renew membership. Membership Cards New laminated cards will be in circulation Museum Member Web-Portal Website- Volunteers - Click 4- AQUINO Tank Weekend VI June 7-10 Museum President Upcoming Documentary / Teaser Video Teaser Video was shown, a 30 minute film is in production. Four Day Volunteer Program Preparation for the Show with additional tickets and privileges for those to who make the contribution A Request was made for Cheer/Slogan suggestions, and a discussion on crushing a car as part of the show was proposed. 5-TANK SATURDAY 2019 Program Executive Director Schedule and Program Changes New Schedule of Tank Saturdays and themes was circulated (Attached), along with the New Pricing Schedule. Newer themes, newer approaches to improve the messages. Tank Talks will be included in schedule, at 11 am and at 3 pm with vehicle experts talking about specific vehicles New Pricing Structure Increased prices reflecting the additional operating costs of the MVCC. The Prices are still lower than most Museums in the area. A season’s pass will also be offered. 6- Convoy to Remembrance II Executive Director New Video Series Drone footage was shown, and there will be a series of shorts on World of Tanks, which will be combined into a full length film by November. Group Photo Presentation Mike presented poster of group, and convoy. 8 by 10 copies were distributed to the members. 7- New Vehicle Acquisitions Museum President FV432 APC (Brit)- en route this week. Hetzer: this was assembled after the war from post war and wartime parts and sold to the Swiss, thus is a G13 made after the war. Some were converted to Diesel (including this one). This Hetzer was rebuilt with original wartime gas engine, and will arrive hopefully before the end of the year. 8- Section Leader Reports and Business Museum Section: Earl reported DHH gave us $50,000 for weapons and display cabinets, with new signage, which will be curated in early 2019. Remainder of the grant was used to make panels for the pre WWI, as well as other time periods and events in Canadian military history, including post war deployments of OntR personnel. – 14,202 visitors this year including 5000 youth, and over 70% from outside Durham, and 20% from outside Ontario. Vehicle Section: Paul reported 5/4 ton chevy close to completion, and hoping to get it and Scania road certified. TLAV, 88 and Centurion work underway, HUW just getting started. A sheet is distributed for members to fill out and they will be assigned vehicles. Vehicle Logs (Binders) are to be kept up. All deficiencies will be noted and passed on to Vehicle sections. There is a budget, so all purchases must be preapproved by Rich or Paul. Rich will be conducting CVRT and M113 Maint training. Wrecker will be rebuilt by Ken, major work on Bart will be required. Start up schedule will be prepared, Leopards every 2 weeks, most others once per month. Ken Lee is Quartermaster, and he has access to many materials, so check with him before buying lubricants or parts. Operations Section: Matt reported new relationship with film Car source, which should increase revenue from our vehicles from Film Rentals. CAA article mentioned Museum provides rides, which has resulted in lots of calls and interest it tank rides, as well an article in the Toronto Star. In August there is a 4 day re-enactor D-Day event in Ohio, so Museum crews and vehicles will be transported. Interested parties should sign up. Bootcamp Leadership will occur in Museum ($30,000 for 4 day rental) with perhaps a second course as well. Armoured Ale sales are increasing to various messes, and at Generals games. Aquino tickets can be purchased on line. Board: two sub-committees formed: one to produce and update Policies and Procedures with standard template, as well as new policies on Drugs; the Second to update Articles of Incorporation, including financial structures. 9-TANKS-EUROPE 2020 Andy Lyons / David Mountenay Tentative Itinerary- Plan to go to Europe, visit Museums, and a number of Canadian cemeteries. Some issues on estimate due to airfare uncertainties for a price 2 years out. DEPARTURE FRIDAY NIGHT- SATURDAY LONDON, SUNDAY BOVINGTON, THEN CROSS CHANNEL TO CEMETERIES AND SAMUR MUSEUM. Projected Costs- $904 to $729 OCT airfare, $4,200- $4,300 all in for 20 people, or if 40 people $3800 per person with two people sharing a room. Sign-up Information in January, with a $600 non-refundable deposit per person, with a $200 added to fund per month per person. Eight day trip. 10-Health & Safety Discussion Executive Director NEW - Vehicle Movement and Start up – 2 vested ground guides for movement, one vested guide for start up. MVCC ventilation systems may be installed next week. If a vehicle starts up open vents and open door.
