The golf courses lived up to my expectations and more. Despite my advancing years and ever growing handicap, I never imagined how nervous I would be as I prepared to hit a drive on the 1st tee of The Old Course at St Andrews. Every course was different and magnificent in its own way. My list of golfing memories from this trip would fill a book but my most lasting memory will be the new friends that my wife and I met on the tour.. What a great experience - you've got to do it at least once!” Gregory Bloomfield The thing that stood out for me from the tour was that the organisation was outstanding. Things happened when they were meant to happen and I can't recall an instance when there was an administrative shortcoming on the tour. That gives you a lot of confidence in the tour being a success. Add to that, nice accommodation and you have the basis of a most enjoyable tour. The golf courses were every bit as iconic as we had hoped they would be and to have the opportunity to play them was a unique experience. To witness the famous holes that we have heard about over the years, such as the "Postage stamp" at Royal Troon, the final hole at Carnoustie where John Vanderveldt had his famous 'brain snap' in the burn that fronts the final hole just brings a new meaning to the pressure the golfers must be under. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 weeks we were away and can now tick off a few of my "Bucket list" items. If you advise us of your flight details, you will be met and accompanied by concierge at the airport and transported to the Hilton Hotel. Otherwise make you own way to the hotel. Suri, who turned professional in 2013 after an impressive career at Duke, played his way on to the Challenge Tour (European Tour’s version of the Web.com Tour) in 2016 after missing out on the European Tour by one shot at Qualifying School. Masters Quick Quiz This has taken us away a bit from all those extra jobs which have suddenly appeared around the house and garden which seems to get bigger every time I look at it. There are also only so many times you can wash the car. Anyway, I am pacing myself for the long run and saving up as many jobs as possible. When we do get back to Course Update playing we can expect a course in pristine condition all thanks to our greens team who are working away with no interruptions. Andy has quite kindly offered to keep us up to date to what is happening on the course and has taken full advantage of the recent good weather to get it in great shape.

Report From the Games! The 1st WSAF World Championship kicked off in London on Friday, August 18, and was comprised of youth, junior, cadet and adult competitions. On Saturday, the games continued with the senior competitions and in the evening the youth, junior and cadet award ceremonies. Finally, Sunday completed the adult competitions and concluded with the award ceremonies. Over one hundred children and nearly two hundred adult aikidoka participated in the games. Beside our own team from the United States, nations represented included: the United Kingdom, Brazil, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, Spain and Russia.
