Mycosphere 6(1), 19–42, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/6/1/4 Abstract A study of diversity of coprophilous species of Conocybe was carried out in Punjab state of India during the years 2007 to 2011. This research paper represents 22 collections belonging to 16 Conocybe species growing on five diverse dung types. The species include Conocybe albipes, C. apala, C. brachypodii, C. crispa, C. fuscimarginata, C. lenticulospora, C. leucopus, C. magnicapitata, C. microrrhiza var. coprophila var. nov., C. moseri, C. rickenii, C. subpubescens, C. subxerophytica var. subxerophytica, C. subxerophytica var. brunnea, C. uralensis and C. velutipes. For all these taxa, dung types on which they were found growing are mentioned and their distinctive characters are described and compared with similar taxa along with a key for their identification. The taxonomy of ten taxa is discussed along with the drawings of morphological and anatomical features. Conocybe microrrhiza var. coprophila is proposed as a new variety. Beug: Chair, NAMA Toxicology Committee Assessing the degree of amatoxin mushroom poisoning in North America is very challenging. Understanding the potential for various treatment practices is even more daunting. Although I have been studying mushroom poisoning for 45 years now, my own views on potential best treatment practices are still evolving. While my training in enzyme kinetics helps me understand the literature about amatoxin poisoning treatments, my lack of medical training limits me. Fortunately, critical comments from six different medical doctors have been incorporated in this article. All six, each concerned about different aspects in early drafts, returned me to the peer reviewed scientific literature for additional reading. There remains no known specific antidote for amatoxin poisoning. There have not been any gold standard double-blind placebo controlled studies. There never can be. When dealing with a potentially deadly poisoning (where in many non-western countries the amatoxin fatality rate exceeds 50%) treating of half of all poisoning patients with a placebo would be unethical. Using amatoxins on large animals to test new treatments (theoretically a great alternative) has ethical constraints on the experimental design that would most likely obscure the answers researchers sought. We must thus make our best judgement based on analysis of past cases. Although that number is now large enough that we can make some good assumptions, differences of interpretation will continue. Nonetheless, we may be on the cusp of reaching some agreement. Towards that end, I have contacted several Poison Centers and NAMA will be working with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). -

(1998): Revision of Velenovský’s species of the genus Galera which belong to the genera Conocybe and Pholiotina - Czech Mycol. 51: 41-70 All species of Galera described by Velenovský and belonging to the genera Conocybe and Pholiotina are critically revised. Of 31 species cited in Velenovský’s papers many are considered dubious, the herbarium material being in a too bad state to allow a correct interpretation; in a number of cases such material is even not existing. Two species are described as new, nine new combinations are proposed and six species are reduced to synonyms. The Diversity of Macromycetes in the Territory of Batočina (Serbia)

The purpose of this paper was discovering the diversity of macromycetes in the territory of Batočina (Serbia). Field studies, which lasted more than a year, revealed the presence of 200 species of macromycetes. The identified species belong to phyla Basidiomycota (191 species) and Ascomycota (9 species). The biggest number of registered species (100 species) was from the order Agaricales. Among the identified species was one strictly protected – Phallus hadriani and seven protected species: Amanita caesarea, Marasmius oreades, Cantharellus cibarius, Craterellus cornucopia- odes, Tuber aestivum, Russula cyanoxantha and R. virescens; also, several rare and endangered species of Serbia. This paper is a contribution to the knowledge of the diversity of macromycetes not only in the territory of Batočina, but in Serbia, in general. INTRODUCTION Fungi represent one of the most diverse and widespread group of organisms in terrestrial ecosystems, but, despite that fact, their diversity remains highly unexplored. Until recently it was considered that there are 1.6 million species of fungi, from which only something around 100 000 were described (KIRK et al., 2001), while data from 2017 lists 120000 identified species, which is still a slight number (HAWKSWORTH and LÜCKING, 2017). -
