    2 3 Aftalen i kælderen Formandsopgøret i Venstre Af Kristian Brårud Larsen 4 Forord Denne skildring af Venstres krise i maj og juni 2014 er en dokumentarisk beretning. Den er blevet til på baggrund af interview med en lang række personer med kendskab til Venstre og forløbet omkring kritikken af Lars Løkke Rasmussen. Interviewene fandt sted henover august og september 2014 og blev således indledt efter mødet i Venstres hovedbestyrelse 3. juni. Jeg har talt med i alt 34 politikere, medlemmer af Venstre og politiske iagttagere. De medvirkende til rekonstruktionen af forløbet har udtalt sig "til baggrund". Det vil sige under forudsætning af, at de ikke blev citeret direkte i den endelige tekst. Mit sigte har fra begyndelsen været at genskabe centrale episoder under Venstres krise så detaljeret og tæt på sandheden som muligt. Uden den tryghed til at tale frit, som interview til baggrund giver, havde det ikke været muligt at komme så tæt på de faktiske begivenheder, at det gav et meningsfuldt indblik ind bag den 'officielle historie'. Hverken Venstres formand, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, eller næstformand, Kristian Jensen, har ønsket at deltage på nogen måde til genskabelsen af forløbet. Både hændelsesforløb og dialog er genskabt med varsomhed, og al dialog er – såvel som alle øvrige oplysninger – bekræftet af flere kilder uafhængigt af hinanden.     SURVEY ARTICLE Danish Cold War Historiography ✣ Rasmus Mariager This article reviews the scholarly debate that has developed since the 1970s on Denmark and the Cold War. Over the past three decades, Danish Cold War historiography has reached a volume and standard that merits international attention. Until the 1970s, almost no archive-based research had been con- ducted on Denmark and the Cold War. Beginning in the late 1970s, however, historians and political scientists began to assess Danish Cold War history. By the time an encyclopedia on Denmark and the Cold War was published in 2011, it included some 400 entries written by 70 researchers, the majority of them established scholars.1 The expanding body of literature has shown that Danish Cold War pol- icy possessed characteristics that were generally applicable, particularly with regard to alliance policy. As a small frontline state that shared naval borders with East Germany and Poland, Denmark found itself in a difficult situation in relation to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as well as the Soviet Union. With regard to NATO, Danish policymakers balanced policies of integration and screening. The Danish government had to assure the Soviet Union of Denmark’s and NATO’s peaceful intentions even as Denmark and NATO concurrently rearmed. The balancing act was not easily managed. A review of Danish Cold War historiography also has relevance for con- temporary developments within Danish politics and research. Over the past quarter century, Danish Cold War history has been remarkably politicized.2 The end of the Cold War has seen the successive publication of reports and white books on Danish Cold War history commissioned by the Dan- ish government.

    REMAINS of Greenland REsearch and Management of Archaeological sites IN a changing environment and Society Field report 2016 0 | P a g e Executive Summary Climate change is leading to the accelerated destruction of archaeological sites in Greenland. In response to this threat, REMAINS of Greenland provides fundamental knowledge to quantify the short and long-term net effects of climate change on the preservation of archaeological record and heritage landscape. REMAINS of Greenland is a multidisciplinary research project administered by the National Museum of Denmark with support from the Center for Permafrost (CENPERM) at the University of Copenhagen and the Greenland National Museum and Archives (NKA). The project group comprises a team of experienced and early career researchers and university students. Research conducted in August of 2016 focused on the Nuuk region in southwest Greenland—an area with a high density and variety of archaeological sites and where the effects of climatic change are already visible. Fieldwork conducted this year expanded on the preliminary work collected in 2012 and 2013 and reported in Knudsen, et al. (2014). Highlights of the 2016 field work include: Archaeological survey and sub-surface testing at twelve sites in the Nuuk fjord that included ruin groups found in the Austmannadal Valley, Kilaarsafik, Qoornoq, Iffiartarfik, Nuugaarsuk, Itivi, Ersaa, Kangeq, Qarajat and Tulugartalik. Broad spectrum soil and vegetation analysis at Kilaarsafik, Qoornoq, Iffiartarfik, Ersaa and Kangeq. This included targeted sampling of Northern willow (Salix glauca) to observe regional changes in the proliferation of this species in Greenland and its relative impact on the integrity of archaeological sites and ruins.

In this article, I discuss the connection between security and social policy strategies in Denmark from 1848 up to the 1950s. Denmark is not the first country that comes to mind when discussing the connections between war, military conscription, and social reforms. Research into social reforms and the role war and the military play in this field has traditionally focused on superpowers and regional powers. The main argument in the article is that even though we do not find policy-makers legitimizing specific welfare reforms using security policy motives, or the mili- tary playing any significant role in policy-making, it is nevertheless relevant to discuss the links between war and welfare in Denmark.

SHOULD like to begin by saying something about the first and most I serious error generally made about Greenland, and the one which is, I think, the most difficult to eradicate: It is popularly believed that it is cold in Greenland, so cold that wherever and whenever you are there you are frozen stiff, and that there is nothing there but ice and snow. This idea of Greenland as an enormous lump of ice is largely due to the ice-cap. Five-sixths of Greenland’s two million square kilometers are covered by this ice-cap. There is so much ice there that, if it melted, the oceans and seasall over theworld would rise eight meters. The existence of the ice-cap is not due to any excessive cold in Greenland, but mainly to the considerable height of the country, the average height of the surface of the ice-cap being about 2000 meters, and to the heavy snowfall. Paradoxical as it may seem ,the ice-cap is thicker in southern Greenland than in northern Greenland, because the snowfall is heavier in the south. The largest continuous tracts of land not covered with ice are to be found in Peg-yland on the northern coast of the country.
