WHAT A GREAT weekend for Javelina Nation. Football team wins its home opener. Volleyball takes its first two Lone Star Conference matches, and before large crowds in the Steinke Center. The Javelina Hall of Fame/Champions banquet drew a full house as Andy Browder and Kenisha Reaux Milo were inducted into the Hall of Fame and the national championship men’s track and field and the women’s beach volleyball teams received their rings along with the baseball team that reached the College World Series with a regional championship. The game and match atmospheres were great. Hundreds of South Texas youngsters were part of the action at football and volleyball. The Javelina Marching Band continues to be the best not only in South Texas but one of the best in the state. Pepsi Field was introduced to the fans for the first time along with the new video board that Pepsi made possible. Tailgating picked up where it left off last year with lots of Javelinas participating and being one of the friendliest anywhere. It was truly a good weekend to be a Javelina.
