Republika Srpska: Project HPP Dabar Is Launched Despite the Opposition and Court Case for Environmental Protection Republika Srpska: Project HPP Dabar is launched despite the opposition and court case for environmental protection Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism (FMIOT) launched court case in District Court Banja Luka for the purpose of termination of Solution from the Ministry for Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology of Banja Luka which approve the Study of HPP Dabar Environmental Influence in basin of Zalomka in Poscenje profile, at Bileca, Nevesinje and Berkovici municipalities with projected power of 159, 15 MW. Project investor is HPP Dabar doo Trebinje. Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism has participated in three public discussions about the subject “Projekt Gornji Horizonti” and its threats to existence of Stoca and Donja Neretva since summer to November 2012 organized by Forum Bosna in order to draw public attention to this problem. The total information about Gorni Horizonti and Government of BiH was sent to Ministry of External Trade and Economy Relations of BiH as supervisory national Ministry of Environmental Problems. Considering that this is one of the biggest problems in environmental sector on BiH level, Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism has continued to work on animating institutions in public in BiH and region. FMIOT got invitation from Sveuciliste in Zagreb for participation in roundtable about the subject “Sustainable management of water in Neretva and Trebisnjica basins” in Zagreb on 19 April 2013. Representatives of ministries have participated in discussion about this subject in cooperation with WWF (World Fund for Nature Protection) in Brussels where the problem of Gornji Horzonti was presented to EU institutions. Council for Environment and Environmental Licenses in FMOIT, Josip Dolusic, stated to Fena that BiH Government has supported all activities of Federal Ministry, as well as the decision for launching the court case for the purpose of RS Ministry’s solution termination related to the problem of external trade and economy relations in BiH and that they have never won in this problem. No matter on all these occasions and the launched criminal charge against solution to approval of disputable study for construction of HPP Dabar, FMIOT has come to an information that there is nothing disputable in this project. Therefore, Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism has sent a request to District Court in Banja Luka. Request in this letter requires postponing the execution of charged act to making legal court decision because there are only knowledge that cities are being processed in disputable locality and execution and finalization can damage BiH Federation and this damage can’t be compensated or fixed. Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism has also addressed to Urban Construction and Ecology Inspection of RS because it has knowledge that investor of HPPs Dabar doo Trebinje in the project HPP Dabar in Zalomka basin on Poscenje profile at Bilece, Nevesinje and Berkovici territories with projected power of 159,15 MW, opposite to the fact that serbia-energy.eu Republika Srpska: Project HPP Dabar is launched despite the opposition and court case for environmental protection Republika Srpska: Project HPP Dabar is launched despite the opposition and court case for environmental protection dispute near District Court Banja Luka is launched because of termination of charged solution and it still does activities that can harm prosecutor and that can heavily be compensated or fixed. Urban Construction and Ecology Inspection can be asked to dictate certain investor and other subjects a termination and cancellation of all activities in disputable area to final completion of court procedure. serbia-energy.eu Republika Srpska: Project HPP Dabar is launched despite the opposition and court case for environmental protection.

  • Includes Data and Indicators Annex for Water and Energy
The United Nations World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP) is hosted and led by UNESCO and brings together the work of 31 UN-Water Members as well as 34 Partners in the United Nations World Water VOLUME 2 Development Report (WWDR) series. The WWDR 2014 marks the transition of the series to an annual publication cycle with a theme for each year FACING THEFACING CHALLENGES – ‘Water and Energy’ for 2014. This edition of the Report seeks to inform decision-makers within and beyond the water–energy nexus about the interconnections and interdependencies between water and energy; the inevitable trade-offs experienced when providing water and energy for basic human needs and to support sustainable development; and the need for appropriate responses that account for both water and energy priorities, particularly in the context of post-2015 targets on increasing access to water and energy. It provides a detailed overview of major and emerging trends from around the world, with examples of how some of these have been addressed and the implications for policy-makers, and actions that can be taken by various stakeholders and the international community. Like the earlier editions, the WWDR 2014 contains country-level case studies describing the progress made in meeting water- and energy-related objectives. This edition also presents a Data and Indicators Annex of 41 THE UNI indicators, which benchmark actual conditions and highlight trends related to water and energy around the INCLUDES DATA AND INDICATORS ANNEX world. • The Phylogenetic Relationships and Species Richness of Host-Specific Dactylogyrus Parasites Shaped by the Biogeography of Balkan
www.nature.com/scientificreports OPEN The phylogenetic relationships and species richness of host-specifc Dactylogyrus parasites shaped Received: 23 February 2018 Accepted: 17 August 2018 by the biogeography of Balkan Published: xx xx xxxx cyprinids Michal Benovics1, Yves Desdevises2, Jasna Vukić3, Radek Šanda4 & Andrea Šimková1 Parasites exhibiting a high degree of host specifcity are expected to be intimately associated with their hosts. Therefore, the evolution of host-specifc parasites is at least partially shaped by the evolutionary history and distribution of such hosts. Gill ectoparasites of Dactylogyrus (Monogenea) are specifc to cyprinid fsh. In the present study, we investigated the evolutionary history of 47 Dactylogyrus species from the Balkan Peninsula, the Mediteranean region exhibiting the highest cyprinid diversity in Europe, and from central European cyprinids. Phylogenetic analyses revealed four well-supported clades of endemic and non-endemic Dactylogyrus spp. with four basal taxa. Endemic cyprinids with a limited distribution range were parasitized by endemic Dactylogyrus species, but some of them shared several Dactylogyrus species with central European cyprinids. Species delimitation analyses based on molecular data suggest that Dactylogyrus diversity is higher than that defned from morphology. Some endemic cyprinid species harboured Dactylogyrus species of diferent origins, this probably resulting from multiple host switching. Our results support the view that the evolution of Dactylogyrus in the Balkans has been infuenced not only by the historical dispersion and distribution of their cyprinid hosts, but also by recent contacts of non-native cyprinid species with endemic cyprinid fauna in this region. Te species richness of parasitic taxa and their distribution in host species is usually closely related to the history, dispersion and diversity of their hosts1–3.

Investigations were performed in summer 2010. Sam- ples were collected every seven days for eight weeks. Physical and chemical characteris- tics of water, temperature, oxygen saturation, dissolved oxygen, electric conductivity and nutrients as well as fl ow velocity at sample site, were measured simultaneously with each sampling. Physical and chemical characteristics showed low temperature oscillations, good aeration and oligotrophic conditions. In general, greater diatom diversity was noted on natural substrate. A total of 104 diatom species were found on natural substrate and 82 on glass slides. The best represented genera on both types of substrate were Gomphonema and Navicula (each with eight species), Nitzschia (with six species), and Cocconeis (with fi ve species). Achnanthidium exiguum, Achnanthidium minutissimum, Amphora pedicu- lus, Cymbopleura amphicephala and Surirella minuta were recorded in all samples of natural substrate and Gomphonema minutum in artifi cial substrate samples.

  • Kroz Bosnu I Hercegovinu
On nije nikad bio nešto drugo osim mali provincijski grad, nije nikad vidio neke velike dogadjaje i nema nikakve historije. Ako nekad bude oštra zima, dolazi do izraţaja znatna hladnoća, posebno medju kamenim zidovima, te ţitelji cvokoću u svojim stanovima kojima često nedostaju kaljeve peći.

In this chapter are presented development visions and directions specific to the Velez Study Area in line with the goals and strategies described above. 1.1 Visions for Velez Region (1) Visions for the Velez region Visions for the Velez region were formulated to show how the region’s tourism growth and tourism product diversity, people’s livelihood and resource base would become by the targeted year of 2015. Also shown are the region’s directions for growth driven by eco-tourism. Velez Region encompasses the three areas of unique geographic, climatic and historic-cultural setting - Podvelez, Blagaj and Nevesinje. Economic and tourism linkages among the three areas will remain weak. However, Nevesinje will strengthen its ties with areas in the west through attracting international tourists flowing in from Dobrovnik and Adriatic Coast and day-trippers and weekend tourists from Mostar City and the Herzegovina Region. Regional economic ties will also be strengthened via newly introducing venture of an eco-House along the National Route 17 selling a variety of farm and dairy produce of Blagai, Podvelez and Nevesinje. A cluster of diverse sports tourism opportunities, available from the three unique areas, will also attract more tourists of outdoor special interest tours.

  • Hydropower and Groundwater in Karst
HYDRO-POWER AND GROUNDWATER IN KARST HYDRO-POWER AND GROUNDWATER IN KARST (prepared for the World Water Development Report) Petar Milanović and Neno Kukurić INTRODUCTION The region of Eastern Herzegovina is an area endowed with the highest precipitation in Europe. The average precipitation for a dry year is about 1250 mm and for a wet year about 2450 mm. This region borders the Orjen Mountain area, which has an average annual precipitation of more than 5000 mm. Additionally, this region is one of the most karstified areas in the world; surface flows are very rare; and distribution of precipitation is uneven during the year. About 70% of precipitation occurs during the wet season and 70-80% of rain water immediately percolates deep into the underground. Temporarily flooded karst poljes (flat-floored geographic depressions)), ephemeral rivers, numerous caves, and deep underground flows characterize this karst region. The main watercourse in the whole region is the Trebišnjica River, the largest sinking river in Europe. Since time immemorial, the people of this area have coped with two kinds of misfortune: flood and drought. It is a paradox. In spite of enormous precipitation in the wintertime, during the summer period, there is no water for fundamental human necessities. In remote villages, people still use rain water collected during the winter. When collected rainwater was insufficient, villagers used to walk hours to take water from karst shafts in the deep underground (nowadays the water is transported by cisterns). Only agricultural land is in the karst poljes, surrounded by desertous bare rocks. However, the poljes remain flooded for an average annual period of 150 to 250 days.
