Sune Goosen is in charge. The whole operation as it is currently run from the Tableview office will be moved to and integrated with the Bellville office from 1 May 2008. Currently Boshoff Visser has representation in 14 centres across the Western Cape (13) and Northern Cape (1). Our total staff compliment in April 2008 was approximately 180. We were again involved as sponsors of the Bellville High School athletics team who took part in the prestigious MTBS interschool event held in the Bellville stadium. Bellville High, Stellenberg High, DF Malan and Tygerberg took part in this annual event held on 8 February 2008. Boshoff Visser was the main sponsor of the mountain bike race held during the Canola festival held in Swellendam during August. This year's event will be the third and is to be held on the weekend of 9 August 2008. We started our student program a number of years ago with the main objective to assist students from our local communities studying towards the accountancy profession. Currently we have 4 students on the program. The second Boshoff Visser Gholf Day was held on 12 October last year. The main reason of this event is to raise funds for our Student program. This year we will tackle the Worcester gholf course on 6 November. All the golfers, please make a note! 04 BOSHOFFVISSERPLUS MEDIESE KOSTE DIE SLUIMERENDE GEVAAR “Ek is 32 jonk en gesond (of so't ek gedink). Totale mediese koste: ongeveer R100 000. Orgaanoorplantings) by 'n Staatshospitaal te ontvang. HOE LANK HOU AFTREEKAPITAAL?

Western Province Athletics www.wpa.org.za November 2012 Newsletter EditoEditorialrialrialrial At last we can welcome summer after a very long cold and wet winter season. Unfortunately a few of the events hosted during October were heavily affected by the wind and rain. The weather at last is starting to change and the participating numbers are starting to increase. The highlight on the October calendar was most certainly the OUTsurance Gun Run, hosted by Atlantic Athletic Club. The participating numbers exceeded all expectations and the event was hosted in perfect conditions along the Atlantic Seaboard. WPA is looking forward to November’s two big events, namely, Landmarks Half Marathon, followed by the Mr Price Marathon and Half Marathon. The ever popular Wednesday evening events commence from 28 November. The quality of these events, hosted by the different clubs, must encourage temporary licenced runners to participate in more events with the ultimate goal of bringing them into the WPA affiliated club structure. The new Track and Field season is in full swing, an urgent appeal goes out to all WPA clubs to please inform and promote track & field events to their athletes. WPA is lagging behind with quality performances across the board specifically in all the senior levels of participation in Cross Country and Road Running. The lack of a proper coaching structure from National level down to the provinces and clubs is resulting in slow times and very few quality performances. The quality of the athletes within WPA can change as soon as we get these athletes back on track in all the middle distances.

  • Western Province Athletics
Western Province Athletics www.wpa.org.za December 2011 Newsletter Editorial A monumental year in Western Province Athletics' history is drawing to a close. This year has witnessed great changes in sport in the country, with the recent Sports Indaba setting the path for South African sport going into the future. It also witnessed major changes in the sport of athletics. Far from the turmoil of 2009, 2011 was the year in which the sport started to perform, WPA was central to this. It is necessary to take a couple of steps back into history and remember the role which WPA played in bringing about the changes in the administration of the sport after the scandals which wracked ASA in 2009. But it was not just in the role of activist which WPA excelled. When called upon to assist, we have been ready and able to do so. Such that ASA and other provinces have been able to call on ASA to assist with personnel and equipment when needed. When WPA was asked to step in to organise a track meeting for ASA, we did not hesitate. And we have not been short on providing leadership to the sport on a national level. Not many provinces have been able to boast having the ASA, SAMA and USSA Athletics Presidents all being members of their province. The year saw WPA hosting three internationally recoginised events, in the inaugural CAA African Cross Country Championships in March, the Cape Town Marathon and the SA 50km Race Walking Championships. In addition, Cape Town also played host to national track and field events, with the Yellow Pages Series and the Yellow Pages Interprovincial meetings both being held at Bellville.
