November, um 19.30 Uhr im Kleinen Konzertsaal am Campus Duisburg Mit Albert Tiu hat die Folkwang Universität der Künste einen international renommierten Gast für die Reihe „Große Klaviermusik“ gewinnen können. Geboren auf den Philippinen, hat Albert Tiu unter anderem bereits mit namhaften Größen wie den Symphonikern Hamburg, dem Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra und dem Orchester der Sankt Petersburger Philharmonie konzertiert. Aktuell hat er eine Klavier-Professur an der Universität Singapur inne. Für sein Konzert am Folkwang Campus Duisburg hat Albert Tiu ein umfangreiches, spannendes Programm konzipiert. Unter dem Motto „Chopin: Before and Beyond“ interpretiert er im ersten Teil des Abends eine Auswahl an Werken, die eine Inspiration für den französischen Komponisten Frédéric Chopin gewesen sein könnten. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Kompositionen von Johann Sebastian Bach, John Field und Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Anschließend wechselt Tiu die Perspektive und spielt Stücke, die wiederum von Chopin beeinflusst wurden – so etwa Peter Tschaikowskis „Un poco du Chopin, Op. 72, Nr. 15“ oder Leopold Godowskys „Studien über Chopins Etüden Nr. 34 ‚Mazurka‘“. Auch Werke von Alexander Skrjabin, Karol Szymanowski sowie von Chopin selbst stellt Albert Tiu vor. Das Konzert von Albert Tiu findet am Dienstag, den 12. For the first time in the history of this Scheme, the international group of experts reviewing the institution included two American representatives in order to complement the European perspective on the YSTCM with an American perspective. The international group of experts used the AEC Framework Document Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Music Education: Characteristics, Criteria and Procedures, a set of common European standards and procedures for the external review of institutions and programmes in higher music education. Based on the visit and the materials sent to the team beforehand, the present report was produced.     The 2nd WPTA Finland International Piano Competition A message from the president: “Putting pianists where they belong – on the stage!” I am extremely excited to announce the second edition of WPTA Finland IPC where we connect audiences, performers and teachers through this online platform. Last year, we saw the participation of 122 candidates from 23 countries around the world of which 37 were awarded prize scholarships to take part in international music festivals, masterclasses and performances. The WPTA Finland IPC seeks to redefine ‘piano competition’ by providing greater accessibility to all pianists around the world to showcase their musical abilities in the least stressful environment while having equal opportunities to be recognized and receive unbiased feedback of their playing on a global platform. The auditioning process is unique as participants will send us their recordings as web-posted links. In this way, there is no travelling required and participants all over the world can be assessed. All participants will receive a certificate and professional feedback from our international jury panel and the most outstanding pianists of all sections will be awarded with scholarships to take part in exciting master classes and music festivals. All prize receiving participants will also be featured on a permanent web page with their portrait, biography and prize winning video.     Greig: Violin Sonata No. 3 in C minor, Op. 45 Notes Composition on Grieg's third and final violin sonata began in the autumn of 1886. Brunei Music Society Whereas the first two sonatas were written in a matter of weeks, this sonata took him several months to complete. The sonata remains the most popular of the three works, and has established itself in the standard repertoire. It was also a personal favourite of with support from Jati Transport Sdn Bhd Grieg's. The sonata premiered with Grieg himself at the piano with well-known violinist Adolf Brodsky in Leipzig. To a certain extent, Grieg built on Norwegian folk melodies and rhythms in this three- movement sonata. The agitated opening theme is contrasted with a more lyrical secondary theme. presents The second movement opens with a serene piano solo in E major with a lyrical melodic line. In the middle section, Grieg uses a playful dance tune. The finale is written in sonata form with coda but lacks a development section. Brahms : Violin Sonata No. 3 in D min, Op 108 This is the last of his violin sonatas composed between 1878 and 1887. Unlike the two previous violin sonatas it is in four movements. The sonata is dedicated to Brahms' friend and colleague Hans von Bülow, and was premiered in Budapest in 1888 with Jenő Hubay on violin and the composer at the piano. The first movement is in traditional sonata-allegro form. The second movement, in D major, is a gentle and lyrical cavatina for the violin, with the piano reduced to the role of accompanist throughout.
