Ils Furent Cr CONTEMPORARY GRENADE LAUNCHERS Les lance-grenades sont ce que l'on peut appeler des armes de destruction massive. Ils furent créés pour pallier le manque de précision et de puissance des grenades à main, dont la manipulation, dangereuse, est régulièrement l'occasion d'incidents sur le terrain. Un lance-grenades permet de projeter à grande distance, avec une précision plus grande que celle d'un jet à la main, des charges explosives, fumigènes, chimiques ou incendiaires destinées à détruire du matériel ou neutraliser un groupe d'ennemis. Les grenades auto-propulsées typiquement utilisées sont de deux calibres, avec des effets en rapport : 25 mm et 40 mm (voir le chapitre grenades). Des diamètres plus exotiques, comme le 30 mm soviétique existent également. Ces grenades se présentent comme des très grosses cartouches, qui occasionnent un recul important lors du tir, du fait de la masse élevée du projectile. Pour s'affranchir de ces équipements encombrants et lourds, des grenades DCR peuvent être utilisées au bout d'un canon d'arme à feu (voir chapitre grenades). Des modèles réduits de lance-grenades, montés sous le canon d'une arme à feu sont également populaires, bien que leur portée, leur magasin et leur cadence de tir soient moindres.
