GURD Bio English Short 2014 ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! BIOGRAPHY! ! ! GURD was formed back in early 1994 out of the ashes of the Swiss power-thrash metal legend Poltergeist. Stylistically, GURD decided to take a step into a rather different direction, as they preferred a !more modern and crunchy sound to metal. ! Between 1995 and 1998, they released 4 critically well-acclaimed albums (gurD/1995, Addicted/1995, D-Fect/1996, Down The Drain/1998) and played several tours ands shows with acts like Slayer, Venom, Prong, Annihilator, The Spudmonsters, Biohazard, Destruction, Schweisser, Life Of Agony, Stuck Mojo, Pro-Pain or Such A Surge. The Dynamo Open-Air appearance in 1996 was an early highlight for GURD and secured them a new !record deal with Century Media Records.! With their album ‚Bedlam‘ (2000), the band started to shift their musical focus more and more towards their Thrash-Metal influences. After the 2003 Album ‚Encounter‘ they released a CD/DVD package called ‚10 Years Of Addiction’ to their 10th anniversary, filmed !at their ‚home-club‘ Z-7.! Two Albums and several tours later (Bang!/2006, Your Drug Of Choice/2008), they signed a deal with NoiseArt Records and released their latest album ‚Never Fail‘ in 2011, followed by a big european tour with Dark Tranquility and Eluveitie. In 2012 they appeared on the Metal Fest Festival Tour and had the opportunity to support Acts like Testament, !Coroner, Soulfly and Prong. ! Currently gurD is working on new material to be released in their 20th Anniversary year 2014 and there is a big Anniversary Party planned for the end of the year, of course again !at the famous Z7! GET READY FOR! THE PIT !!!! www.gurd.net! https://www.facebook.com/gurdmusic! http://www.mx3.ch/artist/gurd! http://www.reverbnation.com/gurd.

LIFE OF AGONY ***Double ‘River Runs Again: Live 2003’ Album + DVD released October 20th on SPV, UK Tour early November*** Keith Caputo: vocals Joey Z.: guitars Alan Robert: bass Sal Abruscato: drums Brooklyn, New York’s LIFE OF AGONY, have reformed and are set to release a double live album, ‘River Runs Again: Live 2003’, through SPV on October 20th. The original line-up is back with their angst-ridden blend of raw emotion and unforgettable down- tuned grooves. Their reunion has opened the door to endless possibilities to come. A DVD of the same name is to be released simultaneously with the double live CD, containing extra bonus material, including in-depth band interviews, interactive menu screens and never- before-seen video footage from the band’s personal tour archives. LIFE OF AGONY, who are currently on the road in Europe, with Breed 77 in the special guest slot and Fony opening, are set to bring this rock juggernaut into the UK for the following live dates:- 7th November Glasgow Garage 8th November Nottingham Rock City 9th November London Astoria Whether it was the intensity of their live performances or the haunting melodies & lyrical content, the group radiated a passion and emotion that struck a chord in the hearts of misunderstood youth all over the world.

It is a complex amplification of heavy metal that has garnered increased attention during the last two decades due to some bands becoming more popular and accessible than anticipated for the styles it comprises. Although women have a small but steady presence in heavy metal, this number shrinks when applied to extreme metal - a subculture which has typically been coded as a masculine domain (Purcell 2003; Kahn-Harris 2007; Walser 1993; Weinstein 1991). For women, participating in such an overwhelmingly male-coded environment can incur sexism, marginalization, and misogyny.

  • Belgische Heavy Metal
