    Late 1960's - Early 1970's The birth of heavy metal. Groups like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple were the first heavy metal bands. Late 1970's The rise of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest become very popular. 1978 Van Halen released their debut album. This began the Los Angeles/Sunset Strip scene, and many bands would come out of this era, including Motley Crue and Quiet Riot. Mittlerweile hat sich die Band weltweit einen Namen gemacht als unkonventionelle, stets überraschende Formation, die ihre eigene Nische zwischen den zahlreichen Metal-Spielarten gefunden hat. Im Juni kommen DEVILDRIVER um den charismatischen Front- Shouter Dez Fafara für drei Konzerte nach Deutschland. Besonders aufregend verspricht ihre Co-Headliner-Show mit AUGUST BURNS RED am 25. Juni in Stuttgart zu werden. Der Erfolg von DEVILDRIVER war geradezu vorprogrammiert. Ihr Frontmann Dez Fafara blickte zum Zeitpunkt der Bandgründung im Jahr 2002 bereits auf eine viel versprechende internationale Karriere mit der NuMetal-Formation Coal Chamber. Nach drei Alben und sieben gemeinsamen Jahren löste Fafara die Band auf, als er Bassist Jon Miller, Drummer John Boecklin und Gitarrist Jeff Kendrick kennenlernte. Die beiden Musiker waren dabei, die Songs für ein erstes Album fertigzustellen, für das ihnen lediglich noch ein Frontmann fehlte. Fafara stieß hinzu und man rekrutierte mit dem zweiten Gitarristen Evan Pitts einen weiteren Mitstreiter. Gemeinsam komponierten sie komplett neues Material für das im Oktober 2002 veröffentlichte Debütalbum „DevilDriver“. Zunächst zeigte sich die einschlägige Metal-Presse verhalten.
