Security / Safety Spotlight By Jon Zimmer, Security Safety Committee Chair

The last several months as the Security Chair- man has certainly been quite different from normal, and we all know why. Instead of work- ing on getting volunteers for Shabbat and holiday service coverage every weekend, more time has been devoted to cyber security, preventing Zoom bombing, and working on getting the Department of Homeland Security’s Security Grant. I have been fortunate to have Amy Feder-Binder and Dan Ochman help me in various ways, and for that, I am very grateful. I am excited that my friend and invaluable member of our security team, Darren Kasenetz, will be taking over the reigns as Security Chairman starting this May. Darren has been volunteering on the Security Team for the past few years, and is active in the shul in so many other ways: his expertise in audio/video in helping us stream services, his handiwork as Brotherhood’s liaison in chairing Chai Guys, which helps with various projects cleaning up the shul outdoors, and his overall commitment to Kol Ami. Darren’s experience as a former security guard, and his college studies in criminology, will definitely lend a hand to dealing with security issues and dealing with our law enforcement partners at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department. Please join me in welcoming aboard Darren in his new role as Security Chair. Kol Ami is grateful for your efforts in all you do!
