FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: APRIL 9, 2021 COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS ACQUIRE CONDITIONAL SEVENTH-ROUND PICK IN THE 2022 NHL DRAFT FROM TORONTO IN EXCHANGE FOR CENTER RILEY NASH COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2022 National Hockey League Draft from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for center Riley Nash, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The pick will become a sixth-round pick if Nash plays in 25 percent of Toronto’s playoff games this season. Nash, 31, signed a three-year contract with Columbus as a free agent on July 1, 2018. In his three seasons as a Blue Jacket, he registered 10 goals and 23 assists for 33 points with 33 penalty minutes in 179 games. Currently sidelined with a sprained knee, he has collected 2-5-7 and four penalty minutes in 37 outings this season. “Riley Nash is a terrific person and hard-working player that has been a solid contributor to our club over the past three seasons,” said Kekalainen. “We appreciate everything he has done as a Blue Jacket and wish him the best in the future.” The Consort, Alberta native has tallied 63-109-172 and 134 penalty minutes in 578 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes. He has added 2-6-8 and 10 penalty minutes in 32 career games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, including 2-3-5 and four penalty minutes in 17 postseason outings with Columbus. The Blue Jackets return to action on Saturday when they host the Chicago Blackhawks.
