Message from the Director of Athletics

Dear Cardinal Student-Athletes:

Welcome to the University of Louisville Cardinal Athletics family! You are representing our university at an exciting time in our athletics program history and I look forward to watching you develop and shine athletically, academically and personally this school year.

As we enter our fourth year in the prestigious Atlantic Coast Conference, we have already established ourselves as conference contenders, both athletically and academically. Our teams are competing for and have won team and individual ACC titles. Cardinal student-athletes have also won ACC postgraduate scholarships, scholar-athlete recognition and prestigious ACC internships. We look forward to continuing to demonstrate our commitment to excellence in the classroom and in our athletic venues during this academic year.

Our mission is to educate, develop and support you so that you can maximize your potential here at UofL and prepare for your future. I want you to know that you can reach out to any of our coaches, athletic trainers, counselors or administrators to help you as you strive to be your best.

I look forward to cheering on all of you this year as UofL continues to make our mark in the ACC and in the NCAA postseason. It is my honor to serve as your Athletic Director.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Welcomes All Cardinal Student-Athlete to Campus For the 2017-2018 Academic Year

Cardinals:

Welcome to the University of Louisville, and congratulations on becoming a member of the Cardinal Athletic family. As University of Louisville student-athletes, you are presented with the unique opportunity to represent our community in both your sport and the classroom. Great opportunities, however, cannot exist without the existence of coinciding responsibilities. As a University of Louisville student-athlete, you have the responsibility and privilege of exhibiting Cardinal Pride in everything you do.

Cardinal Pride encompasses the behavior expected of U of L student athletes. Exhibiting Cardinal Pride means:  Remaining thankful for those who have come before us, and making sure we carry on the Louisville legacy.  Thanking and recognizing our incredible supporters and donors, for without them, our role as student athletes would be nonexistent.  Making the Louisville fan base proud in everything we do, whether it be in our sport, in the classroom, in our words, and in our actions.  Recognizing that we are role models for younger generations.

We at the University of Louisville are extremely lucky to have the resources that we do. We are able to compete against the best competition in the ACC with the help of expert and world-class coaches, trainers, nutritionists, psychiatrists, and staff. We are able to excel in the classroom with the help of dedicated academic counselors, career development resources, tutors, and other academic services.

At UofL, we hold each other to a higher standard because it is our goal to meet and exceed all expectations. As a University of Louisville student athlete, you are in a very privileged position, and we encourage you to take that position with gratitude and excitement. If you are to ever have any questions about SAAC events, Card Cup Games, or student athlete life in general, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We look forward to seeing you around campus and at games, meets, and competitions this academic year!

Go Cards!
