Foreword, by Bob Proctor, From The Runaway #1 New York Times It is a real honor for me to have been asked to write this foreword for my good friends Mike Long and David Mills. These guys deliver! It was over 150 years ago that James W. Marshall started the great California Gold Rush when he discovered a gold nugget in the American River. His discovery changed lives, many of them. Thousands of people became very wealthy. It created a culture and it made people aware that opportunity was all around them. Mike Long and David Mills have discovered gold nuggets in their laptop and they have started an Online Gold Rush. And, just as James Marshall did 150 years ago, Long and Mills are helping thousands of individuals become very wealthy. They too are changing lives. Through OMG, a company they have formed and populated with a group of incredible coaches like Liz, Kotton, Fletch, Greg, Steve, Roy, Joe … I could go on and on … they are training individuals in a highly specialized area, an area where gold is found today. For over 50 years now, I have been helping people all over the world become aware of the tremendous potential that lies within them. My focus is in waking up people and helping them to understand they’ve already got everything they’re looking for; it’s a matter awareness. Every day I have people who come to our seminars looking for a way to change their lives. Strange as it may seem I have found that people are virtually the same. We see a transparent rectangle, like a movie screen, and we hear the sound of GAMELIN MUSIC. The HEAD TITLES start to roll, in- terrupted by weird, translucent figures taking shape on the screen. They are the ghostly inhabitants of a world of shadows, bowing and danc- ing in the lamplight at the whim of a clever puppeteer, acting out the old story of Rama and Ravana to the music of the Gamelin, the Chinese band - bells, drums, and a xylo- phone. There are only a few scattered spec- tators, drowsing to the lullaby and watching the twitching puppets through half-closed eyes. Bricks show through the flaking paint of the walls. At the back, a huge, pink, frescoed Buddha holds the floor of the theater in his lap like a tray. Suddenly, one of the two side doors leading to the alley swings open with a SLAM that sends a ripple through the music of the band. THREE BRUISERS loom into view, banging the door behind them. No-one pays any at- tention except an old CHINESE LADY, obviously employed in the place, who has just come down a stairway hidden at the back and watches the three men with beady black eyes. One of the men - PASQUALE - stands guard by the door. The other two pick an aisle and move down it.

On its streets, he watched the seven deadly sins performed daily, and they inspired the plot of a series of killings—each victim him or herself the perpetrator of a sin. Detective William Somerset, about to retire, teams up to solve the case with his young, idealistic replacement, David Mills. On the run after the detectives’ lucky strike on his apartment, John Doe, the serial killer, turns himself in after only the fifth murder (gluttony, greed, sloth, lust, and pride). Luring the detectives with the promise of the last two bodies (envy and anger), Doe presents Mills with the head of the young detective’s wife, claiming envy as his besetting sin. Disregarding Som- erset’s pleas for restraint, Mills shoots Doe, incarnating himself as wrath, and completing Doe’s bloody plan. Like Walker, his authorial creator, John Doe watched the deadly sins performed daily: DAVID MILLS: I thought all you did was kill innocent people.
