Along with its twin village of Galmpton they occupy a narrow strip of land between Tor Bay and the Dart Estuary. Agatha Christie was a regular visitor to the area and nearby Churston Court (now Churston Court Inn) as she was friends with the then owners, Lord and Lady Churston. She even donated the east stained glass window to the neighbouring church, which she was fond of, and is said to have been inspired to write “Death on the Links” whilst staying at Churston Court.
